Can't believe it was that many years that we visited Cancun for a short four day trip. The weather was spectacular as we barely saw a cloud the entire time. Walked from the Omni to Royal Sands to take some pics for a November trip and had never seen such a beautiful beach. We departed Cancun on the 18th excited to return in about eight weeks with kids. That same day a little tropical depression turned into a cat1 hurricane a few hundred miles south of Cancun...... and the rest was history. Unfortunately along with the beach.
Wilma was what October 21? I know the winds started Thursday, we lost power and phone Friday morning (we only lost phone because I threw out the stupid worthless normal phone and only kept cordless!) and Wilma left on Sunday. We were without power for 12 days
Yes John, but you were bumming hot beer from me. Jajaja. We had beer but we could not say ice cold beers. Those days are forever embedded in my mind. My car was totaled. Bundy's was two feet away and he got a scratch on the bumper. Go figure.
The main thing I remember about Wilma was being incredibly bored! And everyone in our apartment stunk from not being able to take a shower haha Other than that, we were very lucky with no flooding and only 1 broken window slat.
