@T.J: Have a look Libertad (coin) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia @Cancun Fun: My brother couldnt find any here, but he got some in DF.
Hey Rawkus, Thanks a bunch. Full of good info, pix and stats. I had never heard of these coins. I hope it's ok to fire away with some questions. I am going to Merida on Monday and can leave earlier than I need to and have some time to look around for them there. Do you get them from the banks or where? Are they all theoretically uncirculated, at least for the current year? Do you know the prices for all of the available pieces, both in gold and silver? Am I correct that the attraction of these is for collection and that they may go up in value over time? Are there any other questions that I should have asked and didn't? What are the answers? Jeje. Thanks again,
T.J.: Oh my... I have no clue... My brother collects various stuff(such as coins..). He got them from a bank in DF, thats all I know. We didnt find any in Cancun at all. Sorry i couldnt help you more...
Go to your nearest Elektra store that has a Banco Azteca in it, and buy them (at around melt value + 10%). Banco Azteca - Qué es la compra/venta de Monedas de Plata I bought out the entire stocks from my nearest branch a week ago. Once the USD finally shits the bed, I doubt the Peso will be very far behind.
Drewbert. Can you please explain in English (or Spanish) the meltdown value and maybe give an example using a specific coin. I think I know what you mean but when I have bought silver or gold in the past there is a buy and a sell rate but where do you get the rate for this item? I can figure out the + 10% part all by my lonesome. Thanks. Long time, no hear. I hope you and the family are well. Still in the land of Chivas? I hope your forecast is wrong but it is scary out here in the real world. Saludos y Cheers, T.J.
'sup Teej? How they hangin? silver price in pesos: XE.com - Free Currency Charts (XAG/MXN) Price that Banco Azteca will buy/sell 99.9% pure Silver "Plata Libertad" coins: Banco Azteca - Qué es la compra/venta de Monedas de Plata The coins they sell are usually brand spanking new and in plastic cases, unless you run them right out of stock and then they'll offer you the dregs they have bought off the peasants. Remember you're no buying them as an investment, you're buying them because they're about the only thing that will hold value when hyperinflation hits town. Soon baby. USD=wallpaper.
Currency collapse It makes sense to me to have a portion of ones wealth in gold/silver coins (20% is what the people who write about these things seem to say), as money that would retain value, and still spend, in the event of a collapse.
