June junkies who became sick at TTR please read Let me start this thread by saying this is not meant as a knock toward TTR. However this is more of an awareness and to let people know of our experience at TTR from June 5 - 10. We met a lot of awesome people during our 5 day stay at the hotel. The Entertainment is second to none. but after our first day there we noticed a lot of people getting sick all around us. A couple from Boston Tammy and Doug were 2 who we noticed were real bad. Doug was bed ridden for over 4 days. On our 3rd night there I became terribly sick myself. Severe stomach cramping and like the worst case of the shits imaginable. This was symptoms wise, the same thing everyone else was experiencing. Everyday it seemed that a dozen + more people were getting sick. I walked across the street to the pharmacy and the lady behind the counter said they had a lot of TTR customers all week. I filed a written complaint to the customer service desk in the lobby, she said I was the only one who complained ( which I knew to be false). The next Day my wife woke up sick as well and she was pissed! At this point I was pretty upset myself, we were to the point of either going to town to eat every meal, or switching resorts. I went to speak to the lady and customer service (Paulina) who finally admitted to me that they knew they had a food issue. They offered us free medical care and 2 shots of anti-biotics in the ass for both of us. Still upset I wanted to speak to the Hotel Manager, Long story short, he pretty much kicked us out of the hotel for telling our other friends who were sick as well that we got free medical treatment. (Damage Control) Said that it was a private courtesy to us only and we needed to leave if we were going to tell anyone about it. So after a very heated exchange we checked out and left. This was the shorter version but point made. I was very upset about leaving TTR because we had made a lot of friends off CCC, but it honesty got to the point were we didn't feel safe eating or drinking the food and drinks. I know there are several 50+ people who were sick during our 5 days there and have also saw another thread about this, are there any other June Junkies on here to experienced the same? Im in process of getting reimbursed by Expedia for inconvienence. Nick & Steph
Did you guys have trip insurance? Is that why Expedia is giving you a reimbursement? We don't usually book with insurance, risk takers here, but we might now if that is why a reimbursement is an option. ~Shawna
Only eat cooked food, no fresh salad, and only eat fruit you can peel yourself. With the flooding, there is concern with water contamination, but who drinks the water anyway??
Great questions ... I'm curious as to what specifically in the kitchen is causing all the trouble. I had no idea Expedia reimbursed for sickness, that's wild.
We're no experts - but the water purification system the resort uses may have been shut down due to all the flooding of the rain. There were reports from people who said rooms were flooded and the walkways were ponds. It rained heavily for about 5-straight days. Since the pool cups are rarely washed - but only rinsed in the sink, I'm guessing that was the main cause along with the ice. Plates, utensils probably not sterilized in high enough heat to kill the germs as well. Resort may not have known about it immediately- or they crossed there fingers and hoped for the best.........
That's horrible to hear. I hope everyone is feeling better and that Temptation gets things sorted out quickly. They should be honest with their guests if they've got a problem they can't get under control.
