I've never stayed in Mexico, but I've heard the horror stories of "don't drink the water, have anything with ice, or any fruits/veggies that were washed in it." Do I need to worry about getting sick from the food/water?

Drinking the pool water will make you sick , so avoid that, everything else is good .

The water at the resort is fine, most resorts have a good filtration system as it's oddly bad for business to make the tourists sick.

That being said, you are in an environment where there are many people from many different countries who practice a wide variety of personal hygiene habits so take the appropriate precautions.

Also it's a good idea to stay away from salad and shell fish.

Donald had the best advice, do not drink the pool water. If you are still unconvinced, pick 3 gentlemen and monitor them for a day to see how often the exit the pool for a potty break even though they've downed several 32oz Bubba mugs of beverage.

Why risk it when they bring you bottled water to your room... They " may " filter it but sure haven't ever heard of them disinfecting it....just my humbler opinion others will vary....:icon_mrgreen:

I use the bottled water for everything too, teeth brushing, drinking, coffee etc. It's wise to be cautious. I didn't mean to imply that you should just accept that it's good and use it as you would at home. When we went in January one of the friends we met used it like that though and had no issues so it must be pretty good.

Unless you are having drinks without ice though, you're going to be subjected to a certain amount of resort water. We have lime in as many drinks as we can as it's pretty good for killing bacteria also.

As soon as you have a fountain drink or a mixed drink , you have basically drank the water.

TY... I kinda figured it was ok. Don't think too many people would go if they got sick. As for the pool water... EEWWW!! I've been to pool bars, and yes, unfortunately I don't think those people have 80oz bladders. I was thinking more along the line of brushing teeth & ice in drinks. We'll stick with bottled for actual drinking.
