This is an excerpt from the latest trip advisor review - do they really shut off restaurants and pools from people not part of a "convention"? The writer is a little vague about who banned them from the spots - management or patrons. "Didnt get to see the dance club because the swingers had taken it over for the whole week....and one of the pools. They were nice but it wasnt cool that they could come into our area but we were banned from "theirs". Also, the hotel shut down restaurants some of the nights for them. Next time I stay at a resort I will check to make sure no "conventions" of any kind are in. "
We read that review on Trip Advisor as well; can't say for sure since we weren't there then, but it sounds inaccurate or wildly exaggerated to say the least. Depending on occupancy, they may shut down a restaurant (or the buffet) for a period of time, or for certain meals. Have never seen a convention there or anything like that (in 6 visits), but guess anything is possible. We have seen a honeymoon couple there with friends/relatives from the wedding party. But they socialized with all the other guests, and to my knowledge, no restaurants were ever reserved just for them. And we've never seen any pools restricted in any way (other than the sports pool when games are in progress). As far as swingers, we have never seen anything blatant such as described in the Trip Advisor report; once or twice there have been a few very subtle things but nothing even vaguely like that review described. The situation described by the Trip Advisor report just sounded totally out of character for anything we've ever seen. The resort staff is pretty good about making sure nothing gets out of hand. Speaking of the staff, they are uniformly friendly; walking around the grounds, everyone you meet or just pass by seems to smile and say "hola". The staff, and the other guests, are what make TTR special.
In the last week or two there was a large group of gay and lesbian there and they did may accomidations for them. That being said.. I agree that if they close off a section for a gruop then the group should use that area and if they go to the rest of the hotel they should abide by the regular rules, which they seemed not too. I too would be royally pissed if I'm told not sex and nudity in the pool and then a group comes along and has sex and is nude in the pool. But times being as they are and occupancy rates what they are, management is going to do whatever is necessary to keep the doors open. All the more reason that we all need to get out butts back there and fill the place up! Jamie
jamie Rosa and I will be back there at the end of the month and just for the record I have no problems getting nude or having sex in the pool!!! Just need to get Rosa to go along with it lol
Most people on here know we are swingers but even we wouldn't want to be allowed in areas others weren't. We go to TTR for a laugh and if we manage to have a bit of sexy fun then thats just a bonus. We'd much rather spend 14 nights with people who become friends than shag strangers every night.
that report sounds fishy to me... so many people exagerate and make up stories when they're mad it's hard to tell what to believe. I'll take that one with a grain of salt. TR has not really catered to the swingers in the past and has even taken steps to crack down on sexual behavour. That also makes this story a little fishy to me.
Just came back 8/1/09 Swingers were there. SAW THEM. They took over the quiet pool until the 29th. In fact they took our room. We arrived on the 25th to find that our room with jacuzzi was not available. But they had one room left. They said they would move us to a suite on the 29th after the group left but the group had our room until then. There was some wild stuff happening on the quiet side. Music was loud and people were dancing around pool. One lady was sitting on a guys face on the bar in the pool. They also took over two resturants... on the quiet side one night. But many keep coming over to the asian resturant to get in and got pissed when they had to wait for a table. When the group left on the 29th some maybe a handful stayed.. they came over to the sexy pool. They seemed like they were nice enough but they expected to get treated like they had when the group was there and that was no longer the case.. they were just one of us. But they were there... it was pretty wild. The staff even said.. "they are something to watch." It was one of those you would never believe it unless you saw it with your own eyes.. July 25th - August 1
I was just there as well. They closed off the the quiet pool, as well as the Italian restaurant and the seafood restaurant. The Swinger group and a different color wrist bands. The resort had guards making sure only the Swinger group could go to that side of the resort. I'm try to get a partial refund since I could only use part of the resort, but so far I haven't heard back from anybody.
