I think border security is a very serious issue, but a wall is the wrong solution in my opinion. It will take a long time and a whole lot of our money to build it and even then it probably won't keep everyone out. I think the US and Mexican governments really need to work together to come up with some sort of immigration policy that actually works. Mexican people are going to come into the US by legal or illegal methods. It would only make sense to me to come up with a way to let them in while keeping track of who is here and who isn't.
Ummmm I thought there was already a fence.... it may not go all the way across but there are definately fences. I have heard talk of a fence/wall between canada and the US
Ditto! I think that it would be a monumental waste of money. People are gonna get in whether we want them to or not. Not even sure how they would be able to maintain security & upkeep on such a monstrosity. No matter how much the U.S. tightens security entering the county via the normal means (airports, ports, border crossings), there will always be other avenues to enter.
It doesn't matter how many layers of fence they build along the border. Shovels, jack hammers and blow torches will always be available. I don't think there's a way to keep every single gringo from getting to Cancun. They are too enginious. Una pala y un pico por favor!
Perhaps the problem should not be how to keep the Mexicans out of the US illegally but instead figure out how to make the Mexicans want to stay in Mexico. I find it very sad that a country that does have extreme natural resources cannot develop (or have the Desire to) the social resources to equalize the quality of life for all. As for Canada/US border -- just put more "mad" cows on the Canadian side to serve as guards!
