This article is a almost a year old. Also, the bodies aren’t tourist, they are drug cartel related. Unless you are affiliated with the cartel I would be worried. Now if you are visiting Chicago, that is a different story.
There are three things wrong with your post - basically false news !! 1. That "news" report was from 2018 2. The bodies weren't tourists 3. The travel advisory warning referenced in the story does not refer to the Quintana Roo/Cancun area.
Lol, no. (Sorry to laugh but thats likely cartel fighting...nothing to do with tourists) Lot's of hype, especially with current administration. Cancun is actually safer than Los Angeles...and we live in LA . Enjoy your trip, use common sense if traveling outside the hotel and watch your drink. Thats advice for a small little town in Idaho and a huge city like Cancun
Follow the same caution and instincts you would anywhere else around the world and the rest should be fine. I ventured out of TTR late night after Bash a few times to the clubs and it felt safe.
To put it in perspective, if you will google major crime rates in US cities and then google the same for Cancun, you'll find that Cancun would not even make the top 25 US cities for major crime. For some reason, everything that happens in Cancun makes big news, but not so much if it happens in the US. Sam
Well, there is a new story this week about 8 bodies being found. It is written to make you think it was in Cancun, but it appears that it was not. Meanwhile, no big deal that there were 27 people shot in Chicago last month. Sam
LOL I am originally from a country where they have the streak of MOST days of consecutive Murders in the world. I think it was over 30 years, and then they had ONE day where there wasn't a murder. It was such a big deal THAT is what got reported on the news. The next day it was back to normal Daily Murders like clockwork . haha. Just keep your nose clean, remember you are a guest in someone else country and act accordingly and you will be fine. Humble, not entitled. Easy.
