I was doing some last minute reading about the restaurants at TTR and see that three of them are "no shorts". I have a few pairs of dress shorts packed but now I'm wondering if I need more long paints? Can you regulars give me some input please. We are leaving in the morning, should be in the sexy pool by mid afternoon.
Been 3 times and heading back for a 4th, I have never had a problem getting into restaurants with dress shorts.
By the way welcome aboard, its a blast and you will have a great time, look for us on the 10th we should be at the sexy pool by 3PM
The same dress code has been posted for years. They are absolutely inconsistent in enforcing it. This has been debated to death on here, but the long and the short of it is this: More than likely, no one will ever say a word to you about a nice pair of shorts, but I've seen people turned away for shorts or sandals before. I always bring along a couple pairs of linen slacks for dinner. I just change into shorts or theme wear after dinner before heading down to Paty 'O's anyway. If you don't own any linen pants, odds are no one will even look twice at your shorts, and you'll be fine. My luck would be that I'd be stopped at the door and my wife would give me that look...so I don't take the chance.
I actually have linen slacks from my daughter's beach weeding a few years ago and they are packed. I'll try the shorts but have a backup.
Never had a problem getting in to any of the restaurants with dress shorts and a nice collared shirt. Well nice if you're a fan of Mr. Tommy Bahama Fair warning though, some people seem to have an irrational hatred of shorts of any kind and will shoot daggers at you. Do not let these people decide what you want to wear on the holiday you paid for. You may also get some passive/aggressive comments along the lines of "well if my wife can make the effort, so can I", ignore these also
I have always been fine in shorts. I wrote this response before on a post where someone asked about wearing tee shirts, but the same basic concept applies. "My answer is defiantly, but some people might not agree. To the sit down dinners I wear two basic options: 1. Nice shorts with a fitted button down w/the sleeves rolled up with shoes (not gym shoes, but like casual sneakers). 2. Nice linen pants with a solid fitted tee or v neck, and flip-flops (not shower/pool ones, but a more solid pair) My stuff is also ironed, hair fixed, and I generally wear a nice watch. The dress code helps people that might not know any better. But if you are used to getting dressed for a night out in city or somewhere half decent, then you probably know what's appropriate for dinner wear at a resort. I'm 33, so it's pretty unlikely you are going to see me in dress pants, with dress shoes/loafers and a Tommy Bahama short sleeved button shirt. (not that there is a problem with this, but those just aren't the type of going out clothes I own. And dress pants and dress shoes stay at home where work belongs )"
