Hello all, I have a question regarding heels..I will be bringing some ridiculously high heels, worried about walking in them for long distances. Wondering if I should keep lower heels in a purse with me when going to the bars? (At TTR only).what do you all do in this predicament?
My heels stay on through dinner and for about an hour at Paty-O's. Then I end up in sandals or flip flops.
The resort is relatively small, so unless your are in the 5000 block or on an upper floor at the far end of the quiet pool block, nothing is a very long walk. Just be sure the soles of your high heels are not slippery as the tile can be quite dangerous. Take some sandpaper to the bottom of your shoes, or buy some grippy-pads for the bottom of the ball of the foot if the soles are smooth plastic. It's only fun until someone breaks a leg!
That's what I'm afraid of! Full faceplant. I may be better off to just carry them until we reach our destination for the night! Nothin like twisting ankle to ruin a trip...and with alcohol involved and five inch heels, that's just asking for trouble :/
It's different for everyone, you are the best judge of how to keep yourself safe as far as shoes are concerned. I seem to walk BETTER in my 5-inch heels when I've been drinking (but that may actually fall into the category of drunken delusion - like all men think they're Brad Pitt when it's closing time at the bar lol). Nobody will care if you are carrying your shoes instead of wearing them...do what is best for YOU. Dr. Scholl's now sells little folding ballerina flats that you could walk around in while you carry your shoes. This reminds me that when I was at my shoemaker the other day, I noticed that his tiny shop sells grey non-slip patches to stick on the bottom of your shoes, so they are obviously not too hard to find if you look for them.
Patyo's has flagstone floor and can be very hard to walk on. I took out my knee in platforms when I turned over an edge on the flagstone. Sandals are best for dancing. I also get very swollen feet there so sometimes the shoes won't even go on the feet. As far as bars, flat are the way to go. Some bars are 2000 people.
Great idea re the sandpaper! Never thought of that. All my shoes with a heel are still new and slippy because I literally never wear them, but if I rough up the bottoms with a bit of sandpaper that gets rid of the new shoe slippy syndrome!
Good for you that you can even navigate in 5 inch heels. I tend to look like something mechanical when the heels are too high. Not in a good way! For my safety and the safety of those around me I stick to 31/2 inch heels or lower.
I usually do too, stick to 3 &1/2 or lower, especially since i'm already 5'9 flat foot..but I found these 5 inchers that were super cute and on clearance so I couldnt resist! I'm a sucker for a shoe sale. When I put these 5 inch babies on, I feel like a tree! But they were just too cute to pass up, however they may need to be carried to/from Paty'os, I look somewhat robotic trying to balance in them as well!
I start out in heels but end up barefoot and OMG that floor is filthy... this year I am going to find something lower and still cute to change into if I remember to change my shoes rather than just kick them off.. lol
