I just wanted to find out what companies other people use for shipping things from the UK, i have used Fedex in the past with no problems, expensive but now i don't speak to the friend that had the account so i presume can't use them without having an account? The reason i ask is because my mum just sent my driving license with DHL and it's going to cost 44 GBP for delivery! I really want it here so i'm just going to pay it but surely there must be cheaper options than that? They do quote 2 days so i'm not complaining but the only other thing my mum could find was through the post office which is tracked in the UK but not tracked here and after a friend found photos of our family in Don Sh*thole (sorry i mean Don Celes) and a letter meant for us, we're never trusting the mexican post office again.
What I have done in the past is find someone from the UK who is coming over soon on the forum - normally the Temptation section. Have the stuff sent to their UK address and then meet them once they arrive. A bottle of tequila for their trouble and all are happy. I have used DHL in the past with no problems. I think their minimum charge is weight dependant, so you might want to ask your Mum to make you up a goody box to get the most for your money.
Depending on how often you need to have things sent, you might want to open an account with Mas Mail Center Inc. Av. Xpuhil 3, behind Mercado 28, Sm 27 I have two numbers for them; 998 887-4918. The number in my cell phone is 998 884-8328. It's a bit pricey, about 300 USD a year and it's for letters and magazines only, but it's 100% reliable. You get an address in Laredo, Texas and they courier the mail down 2 or 3 times a week.
My mum sends post to us all the time and so far nothing has gone missing in 3 years- she sends it regular airmail. Tracey
Regular mail, that is impressive, i thought there was more chance of a letter getting delivered by the main post office in Italy than here!
