Shipping car from the states...help!

I know I've seen posts on various car topics having to do with Puerto Morelos...but I've got some very specific (and urgent) questions, and would appreciate any and all input.

A family member is selling me their car for super cheap and I've researched the shipping info...my questions are:

She lives (and the car is registered) in NY, but I am from TX. Will there be any problems bringing the car here with NY plates--if I'm from TX?
The title will, of course, be in my name.

What is the time frame once the car arrives to Puerto Morelos before it is released to me? What problems can I expect?

Again, any info/advice/experiences are really appreciated...
