First of all, thanks to everyone who posts at this site. It's an absolute wealth of information! Don't know how folks planned a trip before the interwebs... Ok.. now.. about Temptation Cabo. We've been planning a trip there for a couple of months and plan on being there during mid march when Desirous Travel is planning a takeover. It sounds fun and though we're not currently a member of Desirous Party (or any of the other groups going) we think we'd fit in ok. But then we started reading the positively dreadful recent reviews on Trip Advisor and ran across photos like: http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/2e/bc/f6/pool-view-of-next-door.jpg http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/2e/bc/f8/temptation-is-engulfed.jpg We stayed at the Venetian in Vegas last year when the huge hotel was going up over Tao Beach and it was a huge downer to the entire trip. I hate it for the resort. I'm sure there's nothing they could have done to stop it.... But still, with all the poor reviews and now a near-sky scraper looming over the main pool, we're leaning back to Temptation Cancun or maybe even somewhere in Jamaica. Are our fears unfounded? Thanks to ALL who reply! Merry Christmas!
Unfortunately your fears are not unfounded. The hotel photographed as going up next door is why Original Resorts changed it from a Desire Resort, or clothing optional, to a Temptation Resort, aka topless only. One would expect lots of cameras or shocked people looking from those windows when that hotel opens… Jamie
We started going to this resort last year when it was Desire and the resort next door was not even started yet. We went in Oct 08, Nov 08, Dec 08, Mar 09, May 09, Jul 09, and we are going again next week. We have seen the progress of the building of that resort over that time. Does it bother us, no....we have had too much fun. Even before the large resort was there, there wasn't anything to view in that area anyways. Temptations has great service, the resort is small and intimate, we have always like the food and drinks, and we always get involved with the activities. In our opinion, all of this is much more important.
If ever there was an argument for appropriate zoning laws this would be it. This seems akin to building a small house in the downtown of a large city in terms of silliness.
Wow.. we're waffling on this decision. We've never been to Cancun or Los Cabos, so either would be a great time for us. We keep looking at Temptation Cancun but it'll be spring break time and we envision packs of college guys roaming together hoping to ogle some skin. And while we're mid 30's and consider ourselves very young-at-heart, we're not ready to repeat our college years. Question though: Will there be a huge atmosphere change from Temptation Cabo normally to when a "takeover" group arrives? Because with Cabo we keep reading things like "the disco was dead by midnight" and "since the resort was less than half full, it was quiet and everyone kept to themselves". Thanks to everybody for responding earlier!
The group that will be there in March is not a complete takeover. I spoke to the travel agent last week and around 20 couples are currently booked. My wife and I are not into the lifestyle (as these groups tend to be) but we actually like the energy these groups have. They tend to be outgoing and bring a higher level of energy to the resort. This is why we travel to Desire, and Hedo a lot. We may not be into the same "activities" these groups tend to be but they sure are fun to be around. If I had to chose between Cancun and spring breakers and Cabo with this group, Cabo would certainly be my chose.
You'll find very few spring breakers at Temptation itself. There will be quite a few outside the resort at the bars and clubs though.
that's what I came here to say about out feb/march trip. Though, we didn't have any problems with spring breakers while we were out and about in the hotel zone or in the clubs for that matter.
Couple, Wife and I spent a wonderful 4 nights at Temp Cabo and yes there was construction next door. The workers up high ogling Temp's lovely ladies was not a real problem. In fact, most ladies played into it and had fun. After all, patrons to Temp resorts are NOT shy. The noise, however, was more of a problem. I have acute hearing and the occasional jackhammer over the pool's music aggravated me...When the Desire group arrived on our last day things got much more naked but still we had a great time as my wife and I have fun anywhere...We think maybe you are overanalyzing this particualr trip. After all, after dinner when the construction workers have quit for the day and you are relaxing and socializing in that rooftop jacuzzi with free drinks and easygoing, funny, sexy people you will wonder what you ever even were analyzing....!
BillS.. you're exactly right and we both said so last night. We looked at each other after an hour's discussion, laughed and said "what in the hell are we worrying about"? I started this thread by saying I didn't know how somebody planned a trip before the internet. But this was one time when too many choices wasn't a great idea. So we're about to book tonight.... Temptation Cabo, March 14th... here we come! .....whew.
