We went to New Horizons back in 2009-10 and it was SO much fun, but it kind of died in mid-2010 with a family fight, and the son breaking off to form his own party group, Sapphire. We have been to some of the Sapphire parties, but they are only once per month and we do not like the party being at a hotel. We really liked New Horizons because it was like a resort, and you could stay the night for $5 - lots of privacy and didn't feel creepy like going around to different hotel rooms does. It was very much like I imagine Desire would be. New Horizons re-did their website recently, and have parties listed every weekend. I heard a few years ago that the average age of the crowd was quite a bit older than it was previously (55+ average estimate - and we prefer the age mix that would be typical of TTR, the average being early/mid 40s), and that the "younger" people were going to Sapphire parties. With their reorganization, I don't know if anything has changed or if they are just trying to make it look like it has. We have heard mixed reviews about New Horizons in the last few years, with the really positive reviews being a bit biased and unreliable (or very self-serving). We liked the location a lot, and the parties every weekend, as opposed to once per month Sapphire parties (and usually on the one weekend we can't go). We just don't like the idea of being the youngest people there, at 45/47 - and don't want to pay the high membership fees to be really disappointed. We want to believe that it is better now, but need more reliable evidence before making that expensive leap. So I just wondered if any of you have been there lately (last 6 months) and, if so, what you think of it. What is the age mix? Here is the website, if any of you are curious about what I'm talking about: Home - New Horizons Club and here is the website for Sapphire: Home I am not trying to make this a forum discussion on the specific party activities, because I think that would be more appropriate for the other lifestyle forum - I just want to know if the parties are well attended and if the average age is more like Temptations after their reorganization. I will post there as well, but I know more people look at this forum and I really want some reliable feedback, if that is possible. Please keep this thread PG-13 and don't post anything that will make Steve mad at me :anon: Also, if any of you guys have not been there, but are intrigued by the website and want to try it out with the one time guest fee, but would rather go as a group of "cool" Cancuncare people, send me a PM and let's see if we can liven up the party there on our own - make it just like an amalgam of Temptation and Desire - woot!! They do have a large hot tub, by the way ... and we can dream about Cancun and going to Temptation while we listen to the rain and wish we could be topless outside without getting hypothermia!
Don't know much about the Seattle scene, but if you are ever in Portland, I can give you some insight. Limited, but insight nonetheless. ~Shawna
