:icon_cry: Ok, we have established we are coming back in April, but this time I really want to go on the Boobs Cruise. Blanco went last time, but I get SO sick (even on an inflatable in the sexy pool !) that I wouldn't risk it. So what's your remedy? I've heard about a patch you put behind your ear but I can't get hold of this, my GP won't prescribe it. He gave me some tablets (name eludes me) which didn't help, apart from making me feel drunk, injections from ship's doctor, even suppositories (19 day Transatlantic cruise, I was desperate, on the verge of swimming home :wuerg011. Am I a lost cause? :daisy:
I do a Gravol (Americans call in Dremidene???) with a 5 hour power shot The 5 hr shot contradicts the sleepiness and they seem to work well together. Some people just can't do it (boat), you'll have to decide. There is always one or 2 below deck. You can look at the wind forecast too , the waves play a big roll (pun)
I've heard the patch works really well if you can find a doctor/pharmacy that has it but it will make you tired and you won't be able to have any drinks with it. If that's not an issue I vote for hunting down that. Also, I've heard good things about the acupressure wristbands you can get but I don't know if they would work on the boat or if they're more useful for air travel. Hope you can get on a Boobs Cruise!! Maybe it's mind over matter and you can be hypnotized for it?
"The waves play a big roll." Donald, that's just mean. LOL! Hilarious, but mean. Getting hammered before one actually goes out on the BC has been known to work, too. Alcohol is a depressant, so it will depress the nervous system's reaction and sensitivity to the rolling of the boat, if any.
Pressure bands did not give enough pressure, they did not work for me. Our travel agent recommends ondansetron, also a prescription.
Have you tried meclizine? It used to be a prescription med in the States but is now available over-the-counter. I've always battled motion sickness, but I take a meclizine tab before every day on the water and never get seasick anymore.
I too become sea sick. This year I went on two boobs cruises. The first didn't go too well, I only took 2 Gravol tablets. The second cruise was GREAT. I took two Gravols with breakfast, I wore the pressure bands and took two more Gravol tabs when we stopped for lunch. It was the thing for me. I was able to have a great time on the cruise and feel good enough to party back at TTR at night. I'll be there in April and will be doing it all again. I'll be sure to have everything I need to have a good time on the Boobs Cruise.
What ever drug you decide on you should try them at home first. Better to experiment at home, then to be comatose for 6 hours on a boat.
Good point Donald, try at home. This is true and to make sure you're not allergic. I am allergic to gravol....
