TTR seems very safe while at the resort. The only problem that appears is the ATM in the gift shop. How safe is downtown Cancun at night? Is there anything to worry about?
We have always gone out to the clubs on the strip in Cancun. A super good time and LOADS of fun. We have never had any issues with safety at all. As long as you are kind, considerate and aware that you are not in the county you live in....you'll be fine. We have always had a good time both on and off the resort.
There are always couples at the resort that are looking to hit the clubs downtown. If it makes you feel safer, go in a group.
Cancun is like any big city anywhere in the world...It has its nice areas and shady areas, it has great people and people looking to get your wallet..Do as you would in any big city and be aware of your surroundings..at night in Cancun outside the resort is a lot of fun, we've never had a problem except being asked if we wanna buy some coke or pot..i've heard a couple horror stories about tourists being robbed but that happens nightly in every big city
Take it from us, Cancun is as safe as it gets as far as big cities go. We even went FAR, FAR, away from the hotel zone and felt completely safe when we were at the cock fights. There is nothing to worry about, trust us.
Ok sounds good. Seemed very safe at the resort. Shopping was fine too, just a lot of tequila lol. Thinking about going downtown more. How are the taxis?
I just don't see who would take a taxi while vacationing in Cancun. The bus system is so efficient and simple to understand, and so much cheaper than the taxi service. Give your bus driver $1 each, no change, tell him where you are stopping, and he will stop the bus there, to let you get out. Unless you are smashing 5 people in a taxi at 3am, it is a no-brainer to use the bus system.
Just two things about the bus system..(and it has been 5 years since we have been to Cancun so this could have changed ) The bus will make a circle ... when it makes that loop U will be charged a dollar again... sometimes your hotel drop off will be on the opposite side of the street, but if U insist on being drop off on the side of the street of your hotel and that bus makes that loop...expect another dollar charge... Also, plan your bus trips so U will not be on it when the working staff at all of the resorts are going home or coming to work... U will not be able to get on the bus because it will packed ....lol... That said, we loved the bus system...we would take it to Walmart for items we wanted ...and rode it several times... always felt safe and easy to figure out...
