Hello everyone, So my good buddy is trying to talk me into going to this resort. We're going somewhere June 27th-July 4th this year. This place seems right up our alley. We're both single, crazy and like to party hard. I've been on many vacations but I'm terrified to go to Mexico with all the horror stories I've heard. There are many good reviews on Temptations but I haven't seen anything about safety. Could some of you please let me know about this and if anyone is going down that week. Thanks so much! Grace
No problems with safety in Cancun, just like any other cities in the states, just don't be stupid and flash cash around and walk down a dark alley. The Drug gangs are in the border towns.
The resort is as safe as anyplace you'll ever stay. Cancun depends on tourist dollars and respectful tourists have nothing to fear on resort or excursions. Just don't do foolish things to draw the attention of the police and you're fine. I've been over a dozen times and never had a problem.
Been to Cancun over 20 times different resorts but mostly TTR. Sorry but I roll my eyes when people say to me "omg are you crazy going to mexico?" Mexico is a BIG country. Not to say nasty stuff doesn't happen but there are countless murders in Canada and USA too! The media just likes to focus on tourist spots. We have never felt UNSAFE in Cancun. Just use common sense as mentioned and remember that you are in a third world country and you will have an AWESOME time. and probably never want to go anywhere else!
I don't even get where u have heard any horror stories...the most hotels in cancun are package holidays especially from England...it's like going to Benidorm for Christ sakes...u don't say where u are from but some parts of the usa are worse than cancun..
It's a fact that everyone who has ever travelled to Mexico has DIED, or will someday, of something. Granted you will meet your end even if you never go. Why not go and have some good memories when that day (hopefully very far down the road) comes?
Do not confuse the Cancun area of Mexico with the rest of Mexico. There is no drug gang activity anywhere in the peninsula. Mexico knows where their bread is buttered, and keeps the gangs away from it.
Acapulco off resort might be dangerous but cancuni is good. Just be street smart if off the resort. Don't get into arguments with locals or do anything stupid
No worries! The Cancun hotel and tourist zone is much different than the trouble spots in the border towns. For that matter, much of Mexico is beautiful, but we only hear about the bad areas. A trip to the Cancun area offers little more peril than a jaunt to the local mall. We've traveled down the coast many times and never felt unsafe. In fact, I would encourage you to take a little adventure down the coast to Playa Del Carmen, snorkel in Akumal Bay with the turtles, visit the ruins of Tulum, or beyond. If you ever get to the Baja Peninsula on Mexicos west coast go exploring there as well. Just be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine. BTW, I am assuming your buddy does not have boobs, but there is plenty of adventure for two guys as well.
