We were due to arrive 10/1. My husband had a stress test scheduled for 8/29. Got a call after paying our AI fee on the 31st to come into office to be scheduled for a Cardiac cath. My husband was just having some minimal symptoms when he was excersing. Doc said should still make Mexico trip no problem. Cath was yesterday. Next thing we knew we were told had to have bypass surgery immediatly as he was a major heart attack waiting to happen. Needless to say his surgery is done and as he sits in the ICU tonight I have to cancel our trip. Wouldn't you know THIS time I did not take out trip insurance! TTR tells me AI fee is non refundable but I can change the date for a $30 fee (nice there is always a fee!) I have to see what the airlines will do for me tomorrow! Guess I just have to be glad he did go to Mexico and have a heart attack there!
At least when you do decide to go you won't have to worry about your husbands health as much. We originally booked in December but due to work commitments had to reschedule to April/May, travel agents charged us £35 each to change the date...admin fees or something...what a con!
Sorry your hubby had to have surgery. Hopefully he will make a speedy recovery and you guys will be on your way to Temptations. I just canceled our trip to Disney because I had spine surgery unexpectedly a month ago and as a RN I just can't work as many hours as I am used to. As sad as I am about having to cancel Disney I think I would be devastated to cancel Temptations! I am surprised how well my kids are taking it though.
A good friend of mine had a stress test 5 or 6 years ago, and they discovered an area the doctor called the "widow maker". He had to have immediate surgery as well. Now he walks miles in the morning 5 days a week, works as an A.D. and a coach at the local high school, and is looking forward to his retirement next year. He says that stress test was a life saver. I'm sure it will be the same for your husband. Hang in there and keep looking forward to your trip to TTR. (He can display the zipper on his chest as a badge of courage.)
Aloha, 250 views and 3 replies, I think must people don't know what to say. Well, I thank god your husband is doing good. See you at TTR soon. Hawaii Islanders Rick and Sharon
Well husband is recovering and we will be allowed to travel in 4 weeks. I would like to push it as far into fall as possible (for my own comfort level) before it is too cool at the pool. We were there just before halloween last year and it was windy and cool but I hear that was unusual. How far into Nov. is safe to push it for comfortable warm weather. I hate to sit at the pool all bundled up
3rd week I was there 2 years ago the 3rd and 4th week of november , it was so good i am going same week this year xx hope to see you there, glad your hubby is on way to recoveryxx
Wow.. missed this before... This is right up my alley! Sounds a lot like my story except I got to go. http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42852 Glad he's doing great.. a return to Temptation is excatly what he needs! Jamie
Yes Jaime I remember your story. Unfortunatly my husbands cath showed he was blocked 80-90% in the left main artery so no time to prepare or postpone. Straight to the OR for him. Funny thing was his symptoms were very vague and easily dismissed. He was playing 1 on 1 basketball with our 20 yo old son the week of his cath? Go figure so this was quite a shock. He also has to have the full monty in having his sternum cracked for the surgery so recovery takes quite awhile. But all he wants is to get back to temptations!
