    I need your help!!!! AGAIN!!!
So me and my pup made it here in one piece yesterday, YAY!!!
Now I got pretty turned around last night on the bus. And I am not yet literate enough to talk to the cabies. According to the map below, the Rte 15 bus runs up La Luna, and I live a block off there. But this bus seemed to be turning and turning. I got off, found my way to Gran Plaza...then to home. I rather not have a trip like that again. CAn anyone confirm that the map below is correct? PLEASE HELP!!!!

I've only taken that bus a few times so I couldn't tell you if the map is correct or not... the best advice is to get out and walk around your neighborhood and learn some landmarks... like where this store is or that bank.. then when you see them you will know where you are.

As for the taxis.. have someone write down your street corner address and then you can just show taxis the address... When I first got here I knew that no matter where I ended up I could just tell a taxi to take me to ADO (the bus station) and then I would be near my place... Its best to have exact change or something close to it.. if you hand them a 200 they might try to only give you 20 pesos change or something and then you're in the uncomfortable situation of having to fight with them....

I'm still horrible at street names (mostly because the signage is awful....) but I know enough stores and other landmarks, that I always have a pretty good idea where I am....

Tori - So glad your doggie made it, you must be so relieved! And welcome to PARADISE (cough)!

You need to get a GOOD map asap. I can't stress this enough. Cancun's streets were laid out by some bureaucrat's cousin who took Urban Planning 101 and figured he was good to go.

Get a map that has both Supermanzana numbers and Manzana numbers on it. If it only has Supermanzanas on it then you will regret buying it sooner or later.

They have great maps at Mapas Emprendador, which is a little tough to find but is down the right side of the building on the southwest corner of Lopez Portillo and Ave Kabah. The building name is something, something Emprendor (it's painted on the building).

There are also decent maps at Paperleria Cancun, which is on Calle Margaritas in SM22, just off Ave Uxmal.

You need to learn the landmarks in your hood, but walking the dog will cause you to learn those pretty fast.

    That map is incorrect.

The R15 does go along La Luna, but it turns right on Ave Kohunlich, headed toward City Club.

The R27 comes up Nipchute (which I think is incorrectly marked as Bonampak on the map) and turns left on La Luna, just before Gran Plaza and heads towards Santa Fe. Assuming that you live in this area, this is probably your best bet.

Another option to get you along La Luna from Wal-Mart Central is to take the 510 and I think the R6 (?) or perhaps R5. These run the length of La Luna as well. Just as long as you don’t mind taking the short bus. ;-)

From the Hotel Zone you take the R2, R15 or R103 to get to Wal-Mart Central. This may save you a bit of time instead of waiting for the R27.

Thanks all!!! Once I head down that way I will look for some maps. I think we figured it out..It was the R27....and it sure does take awhile to come. But that is no different then the buses at home.

So far, everything is good. Doggie settled in very easily. He's actually sleeping longer here. Maybe the jet lag affected him more, who knows.

Well I hope to meet up with all of you at some point.

    Thanks again!!!!!
