I can't get package pricing on the major online sites for this resort. It isn't even listed on Apple. Is there something need to know about this resort? Or is it just too soon to start looking for rates for spring or summer '08? I checked Cancuncare's hotel forum and did a search. I couldn't find much about this resort. It looks beautiful, though. Thanks for any info!
The Royal Sands is a fabulous resort, but it is not a "hotel" per se. If you want to rent a unit there, you have to go through an owner. You will NOT be sorry, it can end up being less expensive than a traditional hotel and you get a 2 bedroom villa with full kitchen, dining and living areas and big balconies. Check out www.tug2.net or www.mexicondo.com to start off, depending on your travel dates you will pay anywhere from $1200 (that's super cheap) to $3000 USD for a week for the unit. The high end price will be Christmas and Spring Break. Any questions and I will be happy to answer, my hubby works for the Royal Resorts and my family always stays there.
The Royal Group (which doesn't include every hotel which has Royal in it's name - and does include one which does not have Royal in it's name) are the VERY BEST that Cancun has to offer in terms of consistent quality. That doesn't necessarily mean the most plush or the most sexy, but those kinds of places are usually one-off and directed at a fairly eclectic market. The Royals are, by definition, a family-oriented market with the best management you will find anywhere in the world, and particularly in Cancun. Part of the reason for that is, as was mentioned, although they are a large organization (5 hotels I think - check the map on mexicondo to see for sure), they are 100% privately held. Disclaimer: I have no financial interest in the Royal Group nor do I even own a timeshare there, but I have stayed there on a few occasions and the quality of everything there has always matched every possible expectation (and I can be somewhat picky).
I believe I have seen time-share units available via links on this website, someone correct me if I am wrong about that por favor? For the record, I have stayed at the Royal Sands and took a rather in depth tour of the Royal Islander, Royal Caribbean and Royal Mayan. The three resorts you will often seen referred to as the tri Royals because they line up one after another. I did not have a chance to see the Vacation Club however I hear it is very nice and expected to undergo a renovation next year. I agree that everything I experienced at the Royal Sands, including the restaurant's food, the little grocery store's prices and the cleanliness of the beach and pool area was second to none. My only complaint about the villas is the lighting is a bit harsh. I don't know, maybe it's just me but for the high quality of everything at the Royal Resorts, I would have expected better lighting than the fluorescent bulbs they have decided to use; at least a daylight balanced bulb. 212eric
I will probably get hosed for this but I did not like the Royals AT ALL. That said I know I am in the minority and I fully admit the grounds are very nice. But for me, with the decor, the pottery classes the people shuffled to the busses for the tours - I just felt like I was in a retirement home in Florida. Again, that is only my opinion. And I know I am abnormal...in many ways. Many, many ways. :-|
You must've missed hora feliz. Last year the Royal Sands was the top-rated time-share resort in the world according to time-share users group (www.tug2.net) and this year is number 2. you won't regret staying there. we've owned there for seven years and go twice a year. it's a beautiful resort. the staff is great (and if you don't want to make pottery you don't have to. . .) Actually, I've never even seen the pottery thing. . .the ceramics painting is really popular, though-especially among young ones.
