I just used google maps to virtually travel from the airport to Desire Pearl. Kind of scary looking driving down a small road through the jungle. Am I seeing this right? Can anyone else tell me about their experience?

Done it many times and the road below the highways to the resort has a security zone perimeter gate / check point. Just use a reputable ground transfer company such as USA Transfers from the airport and you’ll be fine.

Agree with above. The un populated route is a couple of miles. Then you start going past other resorts along the way.

Same response as above. We stayed at Pearl once for a week, and visited twice from DRM. On each occasion there is that portion which looks shady, but it already past a security area with paid guards. Nobody we've ever heard of (so think about that with the internet) has ever had any problems.

I have used a cab and been fine. Temptation is pretty careful.

my assumption would be that you would take a transfer from the airport but no on your Google Maps it may look like a jungle but it’s actually not bad at all it is very secluded which makes sense given your Destination. We have been several times you’ll be fine

We paid for the airport transfer shuttle when we booked our package.

Just use USA Transfers and let them take you there. We went in February. The transfer service was great, and the ride was not scary at all. And, it's cheaper if you book your transportation yourself. If you let the resort do it for you, you'll spend about 25% more, and they use the same company.
