Which rooms are the best bang for the buck at Temptation? Also, should we book the cheapest and then upgrade once we are at the resort?

You know there really aren't any "bad" rooms at TTR. If you think about it, you really use the room to sleep, change clothes, and hopefully shower once in a while. Nice things are quite when you want to sleep, dark curtains for the afternoon power naps, room to move around, a good bed, and a decent shower.

As for the rooms at TTR, well we'll start with the bed. They are hard. If you like hard beds, you'll be in heaven. They all have dark curtains for that afternoon power naps and they all seem to have decent showers. The room to move around varies but generally you have enough room. Some have lots, some have enough. As a result, some are party rooms and some are not. If yours isn't then figure if there is a room party, don't volunteer your room, go to someone else's.

As for quite, except for those in building 2, right around PadyO's, it kind of a hit and miss as there is always someone drunk yelling in the halls for a minute or two or someone slamming a door now and then but never for very long and if you party hard enough, you'll never hear it or will be the one doing it so.....

As for ocean view.. ocean view in Mexico means that if you can have one foot touching the patio outside your room and lean way over the railing and catch a glimmer of ocean blue... you have ocean view. Not worth the upgrade price unless you plan to live in your room. The ocean is right outside, go sit on the beach for the best view and it's free.

There are the Jacuzzi rooms but they will charge you lots more to get into those so it's up to you as to if that's important to you or not.

My advice always has been, check out the room you get when you check in. Might be just what you are looking for and not cost you any extra. If not, either have the bellboy who brought your luggage - USE THEM! $2 buck a bag, they take you directly to your room and carry them up the stairs, always love watching couples lug 50 pound bags up and down stairs around PadyO's looking for their room in order to save $5 - to call back to the front desk for options. You can then check out the new room and see if it's better. If so you move, if not maybe they can set something up for a room that is being vacated tomorrow and you can move then. Chances are that you'll be fine with your first room and saved the upgrade costs.

If not, and all else fails, then you can pull out the upgrade card and see what you can get.

Jamie thank you for your advise. We have not visited this resort and have read mixed reviews.

With the large variety of folks that go to TTR you are sure to find mixed reviews. And not knowing any of the writers, including me, you never know what to really expect.

But know that if you have a problem, the staff at TTR is always willing to bend over backwards to address any REASONABLE request made by their guest. I say reasonable because over the years I have heard some of the demands made and I would have told those people to take a flying leap! :)

TTR is about the fun and interaction between the staff and guests. It is not a posh resort. It has the clean basics with a few nice amenities. No strawberries on the beach but bodyshots on the swim up bar. A playful safe environment were open minded people can have fun without having to jump in with both feet like a Hedo or Desires. You can participate or watch and laugh... your choice. We call it the college frat party for adults.

We were considering Desires; however, Temptation appears nicer and less $$$. One more question who would you recommend booking the stay through?

We actually really liked staying in Building 1, overlooking the quiet pool (it is considered ocean-view). We stayed on the 3rd floor and never heard any noise at any time of day or night, it was wonderful.

If saving money is your main goal, book your room through Alpharooms, and get your flight wherever it is the cheapest. If you aren't too concerned about saving $300 or more and want a room overlooking the quiet pool and ocean, I would suggest booking flight and room together at Expedia.

Good advice.... and as for the thrid floor being quiter... that's because all the drunks can't climb that many stairs.. :)

Now your final questions should be - "When should we go?" I vote for May. :) That's when the best crazies are there! :daveandmo:
