What do you mean by safe?
Depends on a lot. It’s not chlorine treated/osmosis double purified / etc like in the states. If you have a healthy lifestyle and your body is used to some bacteria it shouldn’t bother a person. If a person is overly cautious in the states, only drinking purified water, then you might have some digestive issues.
You can’t avoid it tap water in Mexico. Taking a shower, eating fruit/veggies/ brushing your teeth...
Still I don’t drink directly from the tap.
I think many of the digestive issues come from the abrupt change in diet (including excessive alcohol) and meal prep. The foods at the resorts are much richer than our palates are used to and our bodies tend to react adversely.

We gather bottle water all day to keep in the room. Lobby bar , coffee shop, room service, at the pool. We ask for two each and walk away. Water problems . we got no stinking water problems at TTR.

    stay safe and have fun.,,,

I had this question when I went the first time in 2019. Most resorts have their own filtration system and Temptation does too. It's safe but you can never be certain of the human factor when it comes to contamination. Tip your housekeeper and ask for extra bottled water to be brought every day. Our butler handled this for us and we had no shortage of bottled water. I had the premier bartender fill up my Hydroflask with ice water (Agua con hielo) at the pool daily and had no issues at all.

I was take a probiotic a few weeks before arriving just incase. I never drank the water, but always brushed with it. Never had an issue. I did notice, however, the water does tend to have a faint sewage smell to it. Kind of gross. It was like that way before the renovation as well. Not sure what causes that.

If you have ice in your drinks your drinking tap water. The resort ice machine is plumed into the same water system as the sink in your room. I still drink bottled water while at Temptation. I would be much more concerned about that pool water that just splashed in your mouth than a couple of swallows of tap water. And yes, I spend half the day in the pool right next to a couple that has been drinking beer for 3 hours and still hasn't got out.

The Tap waters all filtered at TTR, good for brushing your teeth and a drink if you Desire. We drink bottled water at home and there.
