    hi guys

Can you confirm when dry law wil be enforced for rina?

Were staying at the moment in crown paradise club and they will stop serving of alchol in the hotel from tomorrow, thursday

Is it worth heading out now to stock up as there is a room curfew from 7pm to 7am thurs night into friday? Or can we buy tomorrow?

Also many thanks re telcell im using this now and have provided rooms in the hotel with wifi rather than paying usd25 per day

    Cheers and tequilas

    Gavin

    Hey Gavin.

Last night I tried to buy beer in our local Wal Mart(Downtown, centro) and they just sealed the alcohol area off and repeated the message over the speakers in the store.

So, not sure what places, if any, would still sell it, considering supermarkets stopped it last night.

Try any Oxxo and/or Extra that you run into.

    thanks for that info.

Weve seen some guys walk back through the hotel with bags of beers so maybe from an oxxo or extra in the hotel zone. Will try to catch them and ask.

Gonna make an interesting day tomorrow

    Cheers

    Gavin

Ley Seca (Dry Law) often does not apply in the HZ so you may well find some beer at Oxxo or Extra as Rawkus says.

The hotel not serving alcohol will be their own policy rather than any law. If it comes to evacuation (extremely unlikely give the current forecast) they don't want to be having to deal with drunk people.

Good luck, both with your booze quest and the hurricane!

Yeah, I am surprised to hear that an AI hotel stopped serving. That is not common and I think pretty ignorant given the status of the storm and the price you all paid to be there.

Either erring on the side of caution, or an opportunity to save some money. Maybe, a bit of both.

A hurricane is one thing but no booze? That's just an unspeakable horror!

    Hope all is well there!

Well im back in the UK survived Rina :) and had some amazing weather after.

Oxxo/Extras didnt sell alchoal within the hotel zone , tried about 4/5 of them and eventually gave up.

Hotel served it between 6pm and 9pm on the Thursday evening, then started a full service on the Friday morning.

Had an amazing time in Cancun (3rd) and will be back again soon.

A bit after the fact but V and I headed to the HZ the day before Rina was due to arrive. We parked at Surfin Burrito then headed to where beach access is available, across from Sr. Frogs.

After seeing the very high tide and waves that were not really suitable for surfing, we went back to Surfin Burrito for a beer or three. Cory & Michael told us that the dry law was in effect and that inspectors had come by to tell them to get the cold beer out of the reach in display cooler. The fine - $10,000 Mxn if caught. We did not push it. In the past, not there, I have been served beer in disguised "vessels".

Steve is right on the evacuating drunk people concern, but hey, why do they call it a "Hurricane Party"?
