Last trip to Temptation was in April 08 to celebrate my divorce. Returning Dec 30 to Jan 6, to celebrate new years & the dreaded 40th birthday, with my wonderful hubby of a year & 1/2. Found the best price compared to other places we have gone in the last couple of years. Already knowing pros & cons, just going to not compare to Akumal so a little sad :(~ but mexico is Mexico :)

My main concern was having money stolen from room safe on our last day back on 08. I have since bought & used a travel safe with no issues, it just let a bad taste in my mouth about the whole trip. Any others had similar situation? Ways to be proactive so doesn't happen again?

NOT saying this was the case here, but I have come back from supper and found that I forgot to lock the safe, or left my wallet in my pants on the bed. When there booze involved I tend to forget things sometimes.

To put your mind at ease, I have not seen posts about people being ripped off, except for maybe forgetting your camera at the pool and then it disappearing.

We had changed our code, came back from a day long excursion and safe had error code. All small bills gone & electronis still there. Any electric safe has an over-ride code. I consider myself well exucated in traveling, as well as little OCD when it comes to details; daily tip money in separate envelopes, etc. This was a theft from the safe... Honestly kept me from returning since then so 3 orther resorts in cancun have gotten my business instead. But great to here no recent news of such

Sounds like you took precautions and still lost out. Fortunately, in sex, oops.. six or seven trips to TTR/BBG, I havn't heard of any others being ripped off. Add that all up and I would say it ia a 1 in /1000 chance that it might happen again. STOP GOING AFTER YOUR 999th TRIP!!!!! Really, you don't need anything more than tip money. If that gets ripped off on your last day, it can't be that drastic. The great thing about TTR is the people you meat, oops... meet. Priceless.

Been to BBG/TTR five times and Cancun area 15 times and have never had any problems with theft. We have not even been as proactive with putting things away, etc...

I would give it another shot. I think you had an unfortunate isolated incident.

We always lock our stuff, no problems. We have purposely left money out for housekeeping and they didnt take it. Come back and give it another try too many positives to let one bad experience ruin your fun.

From reading reviews on Trip Advisor I get the sense that it happens, but is not common. Something like three or four people mentioned stuff missing from rooms out of ~350 reviews the past year that I read.

Are there safe boxes at the front desk?

Not to scare you but we had friends whose entire safe was ripped off the wall at the Rio Carribean. They got it all, passports and all electronics and money. Doesn't matter where you stay, it can happen. Insurance will cover it only if it is in the hotel safe. Words for thought.
