We just got back from a referral week which was our 5th trip to the resort, starting back when it was Blue Bay Getaway, so we've seen many changes through the years. This was our 1st trip since the reopen. After reading previous reviews we had no idea what to expect!

Check in- smooth as usual, and the lobby is gorgeous compared to the old TTR, bright and spacious with a bar overlooking the sea.
Room-We stayed in 1713, which is a ground floor room overlooking the marina, so it was quiet at night with a great view. Word of caution, if the wind isn't blowing, use bug spray if you're going to spend any time on your deck. The vegetation attracts biting bugs, only happened 1 night, but it's January. We thought the room remodels were awesome! Missed the lit apple above the bed, but there was a ton of closet space, way more than b4. Floors are smooth so caution is needed, and that nasty little lip on the shower bottom can be a problem too, especially after a day of day drinking. They must use propane to heat the water, because it smelled of rotten eggs when the shower was in use.
Robes, umbrellas, hair dryer, safe, fridge, coffee maker(weird 1 or broken), nice flat screen, clock radio with 2 USB outlets, iron, side table with 2 chairs and deck with table and 2 chairs. The blind opens automatically when you open your room door. Ours was already tattered, think they'll be replacing those a lot. Room was freezing cold and it took maintenance 2 days to fix it. Electronic controls took a day to get used to.

Pool- What an improvement! Huge and beautiful. We read a lot about how deep it was , which is a concern with a 4'11' wife. She was able to stand comfortably in the pool with no issue. We took a floaty that wasn't needed. Either they lowered the water level or the multiple reports I read of 5' deep water were not accurate. The steps into the pool are the same color, so caution is needed getting into the pool. The bar is huge, but they never had more than 3 bartenders working it which is a problem. Those guys work so hard, tip generously! They heated the water at least 3 days while we were there so it was comfortable, and CLEAN in the afternoon. Repeaters know what I'm talking about, we'll leave it at that.

Pool deck- More loungers than before, but they're awful. They don't adjust, are hard to get in and out of. You can't lay on your stomach. Close together so to go anywhere it can be a challenge when people are at the pool edge. The old adjustable loungers have been moved to the beach, which was kept spotless. The waiters and waitresses were present all the time. Lesli rocks! Curiously, the worst service we got was at the Premiere bar on the deck. Nice guys, but they didn't have the speed of the rest of the bartenders. As usual the entertainment staff was great, DJ was pretty good. The huge hot tub up the ramp gets busy in the afternoon, and really it's more of a lukewarm tub, I'm guessing 90-95 F. There's also a ping pong table for less windy days.

Rooftop- Curious hours of operation, but I understand it's still a work in progress. Beautiful layout and stunning views of the resort, the sea and Cancun. Open at 11,they don't serve food until 12:30. The menu was different and was a tapas style pretty heavy on seafood. If you're wearing a white wristband, it'll cost you $20 per person to visit up there. Until they get it fully functional, not worth it in my opinion.

Bash- Love it compared to Patty O's. A lot more room. In the winter when the wind's blowing, it can get downright cold for the parties though. The view out to the sea is great. The nightly shows were really impressive. A lot of thought and work went into them. White night show is not to be missed! DJ's were really hit or miss. Some nights great, some so-so. If you have to play the same song 3 times in 1 night....problem. Again, a real lack of bartenders, but keeping with the theme, they worked their tails off and always smiled. Another keeping with the theme subject, who designed the chairs at Bash? The least comfortable chair I've ever sat in, and not many of them to go around. The funky tables also have a slightly sloped lip, and we witnessed a ton of spilled drinks because of it. We never saw an accident, but the oddly shaped smooth raised dance floor looks like it could be a safety concern for sure, especially when the humidity is up.

Food- Rain- We thought the buffet had a lot less options than before but overall was pretty good.
Sutra- We did the hibachi 1 night (reservations required unless you order off the menu at a table) and it was good. They were attentive of my seafood allergy at all times, and the chef put on a good show, quicker than most which was good considering where we were!
Flame- Didn't eat at the steakhouse, but didn't hear great things. I'm assuming the steak we ordered from room service was from there, and it wasn't good at all. Medium rare meant well done
She- we made reservations 1 night but left before service. The menu just wasn't what we eat, so no opinion on it. Other people with more adventurous food tastes we talked to really liked it though. It was freezing freezing cold in there! 1 other note, we were told by a few people it's at least a 2 hour meal with only 2 seating times, 6 and 8:30
Sea Flirt- I don't do seafood so we didn't partake, but heard really good things about it. We did have breakfast there 1 morning (for premiere members only) which was good.
Amores- Hidden gem, we loved the place! Almost empty at 8:30, roaming mariachi band and really awesome upscale Mexican menu. Corn and mushroom chowder in bread bowl may have been the best soup I've ever eaten. They have a nice lunch in there too starting at 11:30, with some unusual but great entrees.
Romanza- Great food. The lasagna is to die for. Only problem we had was the waiter was really upselling the premium entrees to the point we felt we were in a timeshare sales pitch! Order sexy coffee, it's a show.
Caffeine- Was great they finally have a coffee bar, saves from going across the street to Starbucks.
Room service- Terrible. The food and the beer arrive late and at the same temperature. We thought it was just 1 off night, but we ordered for the 2nd and last time with the same results.

Party- well isn't this why we really go to TTR? Layout is great but the party is the party. The staff is so accommodating and friendly.

Other thoughts- I had the misfortune of straining a calf muscle on the way to the airport (dumb luck!) so I spent the 1st 2 days there in a wheelchair then 2 more on crutches. The resort IS NOT handicap friendly at all, too bad I had to find out. The hotel was great as I had the use of wheelchair and crutches at no charge. Anytime I was at a ramp or steps the staff was there to help, think we think the staff is phenomenal?
To those who are concerned about being hounded by lifestyle people, don't be concerned! Yes, we were approached by 4 couples while there for 7 days, declined and had a great time, including with those couples!! No pressure at all.
Premiere- Again, we were on a referral, and it's not our cup of tea. Didn't feel the added amenities were worth that kind of investment, and when we lounged in the Premiere area felt isolated from the party. Service was no better there than anywhere else, in fact maybe a little worse. We had a butler who we didn't see until the last day. Will we be back a 6th time? You bet we will! The pricing may be a little higher than pre-renovation, but still the best party bang for your buck we've ever found, and with better food. Shortcomings? Sure there are a few but certainly not enough to dissuade us from coming back. Oh, and as always, the Boobs Cruise is an absolute must!

Nice review! Just one point, we've recently returned and would like to point out the fabulous Sea Flirt breakfast is in fact open to all, not just Premier members. We breakfasted there 12 mornings out of 14!

We heard the steak was good there too. Too chilly to eat on the deck and with my allergies couldn’t sit in the restaurant. Odd how the seafood restaurant has better steak than the steakhouse?

Thanks for your review, DannKathy! This April will my first time back since the renos, so it's so interesting to read reports on the renovated resort from repeaters.

It’s about 9” shallower around the bar,I’d guess 4’6” in the center

When we went this past oct the steak was not good compared to what’s we get in Georgia ! It was eatable but not real good. Your in Mexico I figured lol!! Also we will stay this time (our 3rd time) on ground floor by quiet pool in a jacuzzi room. See how that goes. In oct we had a beautiful ocean view but next to bash we could thrive a rock to the lounger sofa areas. Lol. Loud loud for the last night or 2 when we needed a little pre flight rest. But still fun.
