Hi all. We were to BBG in 2006 and 2007. We have tried to keep up with the changes in the resort as we are booked the first week in Feb 2010. Then I stumbled on a major tidbit, I hear that name brand liquors are now included where they were not when we were there. For me, this is huge. Like...what brands do they have now? I was paying extra for Jim Bean the last time I was there. The well drinks can make you sick (it wasn't the 50 drinks a day LOL) This brings to mind that I may not be aware of other changes to the resort. If anyone has first hand knowledge of any changes I would appreciate the info. A summary in this thread may make it easier to track. You also could just say, JUST KEEP READING  Thanks in advance.
Before someone else smacks me, I'll give up! ..."Changes since 2006" covers some of what I am asking. It was posted Oct 12th. Sorry for repeat Kurt
Changes I know the reservations are different now, you can make multiple days at once, I do not believe the tex/mex restaurant was there in 07. I think it was still the night club or being built. I know this past march/april i was drinking Bacardi, I am a Member, but i was always told to show wrist band in the past, i was not asked to anymore, neither was a friend who was not a member, there was a few name brand liqueors, I stuck with bacardi coke and beer, there are also glasses available instead of the blue plastic cups.... ummm umm im sure someone else can chime in with other changes, im sure you have seen pictures of the new paint and new lobby and new center bar...etc
Re: Changes Thanks backs13. We have not checked for replies in a while, kinda gave up. We appreciate the info.
The booze choices are much better although you do have to ask for the better stuff. Still not top-shelf by any means, but much better than the Blat brands they used to serve. Paddy O's is quite a bit nicer than the old Maragaritas Bar, and the new Nice Shoes is very nice until the AC gets overwhelmed. The crowd seems a little younger, but I also getting older. The place has definitely tamed down a bunch, with an example being the dropping of the body-shot contest due to lack of participation. Security seems pretty uptight one trip and very laxed the next, so that an issue that is hard to measure. The nightly activities are now pretty lame. The "Legs" and "Kissing" contests have been replaced by Karaoke and a live band. The beach is four times as large as it was a couple of years ago. The biggest change is that leisure travel has dropped like a rock in the past year or so, and resorts in general are not very full.
You seem to have summed things up pretty good, but not a lot of positives. It's a good thing most of us make our own fun with great people from all over the world. We are very easy to please and not very criticle on vacation so it will all work fine. Thanks for the update.
Sorry about seeming negative, as there are numerous improvements that I left out. The rooms have a much nicer look and feel. All new furniture and softer beds. The bars and restaurants have a more elegant feel. The lobby and front entrance are much nicer. No changes with the staff being so attentive. The guests are still a blast. The shoes are still as nice.
We have been going at least once a year since 2003. Have seen alot of changes over the years, some for the good, some not. Yes the activities are much tamer, but there is still tequila volleyball and crazy darts which are both fun. The restuarants have gotten better with a nice variety. And the outside patty O' bar is opened to at least 4 am. The staff still is wonderful and as repeaters remember you (at least by face). We've gone by ourselves like this upcoming Dec 30 trip as well as with alot of couples- like last April and this upcoming one. Yes, changes indeed but still our number one favorite vacation spot.
