We have consumed the last can of our bulk purchase of OceanSpray Cranberry sauce. With the upcoming holidays, she who must be obeyed has been dragging me around, scouring the shelves searching for the stuff. Today was a Mega, Costco, Walmart, Soriana expedition. Mega took the prize today for the most radios, boomboxes and televisions tuned to different stations, all competing with the music and unintelligibley grarbled announcements spewing from the PA system. Walmart came in second. My highly-trained ears are recovering. At any rate, please let me know if you see any of this unobtainable commodity. It doesn't have to be Oceanspray. I might even settle for cranberries and make my own. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
I found some Ocean Spray Cranberry (Jellied) at the La Europa in the Hotel Zone last year. It might be worth a look.
The resident dietary grinch has spoken . Seems to me that's the point. Methinks cranberry sauce without sugar is going to be a puckering experience. Ingredients 1 cup (200 g) sugar 1 cup (250 mL) water 4 cups (1 12-oz package) fresh or frozen cranberries Optional Pecans, orange peel, raisins, currants, blueberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice.
Thanks to Spin and Tracy. I'll be scouring the stores again tomorrow. Meanwhile, if someone sees cans of the stuff, please let me know.
If that's the worst name you can call me then I'll have to try harder...heehee. Of course I want sugar in my cranberry sauce, I just want to add it myself. Am I being old-fashioned?
Chedraui on Av Tulum has always had cranberry. Also, at the Mega behind Costco, I found cherry pie filling earlier this week. It has all sorts of stuff. No wonder my friend the French restaurant owner loves the place!
MIXZ1 - the gringo walmart has loads of Ocean Spray cranberry juice at the moment - it was on the top shelf by the other juices - get in there and stock up before it's to late!!
