I made a reservation with ezway for a VW Jetta and was told that this is a full size vehicle. Has anyone rented this type of vehicle before? I own a SUV and don't need to rent one on this trip but do need a full size vehicle but in Cancun it seems that some vehicles are classed different than the US. Any help would be appreciated.

Pretty sure that a Jetta is a Jetta is a Jetta. My buddy has a supercharged version and it screams.

It is a good sized car.

You are right about the classifications though. It is normally best to consider the car make and model, rather than the size rating. It does stand to reason that the more expensive the basic car, the larger it is.

    I wouldn't sweat it.

A VW Jetta is a basic 4 door sedan thats a good choice and it has good gas mileage (Gas costs in Cancun are around 8.50 pesos per Lt). Streets in downtown kinda suck & potholes are everywhere (beware of puddles since they can hide the worst potholes)!! Jeep Wranglers are popular but most are the basic model that don't have air conditioning that is a must in here! How many people are you traveling with?

Thank you for the reply, I'm traveling with 3 other people, with 3 large duffel bags. We are driving to Playa from the airport for a couple of days, than off to stay in Cancun. I just need the trunk to hold the luggage while traveling to each resort.

I will be honest, 3 Duffel bags like the ones issued by the army are quite large & i am not 100% sure that even 2 will fit in the boot of the car unless they are the size of those backpacks that are popular with people backpacking threw Europe & stuff, but since you are only 3 travelers you can put one or even 2 in the back seat.
