Haha was it really random? We could never tell. We'd try to figure out ways to make the light green. My husband insisted I was luckier so he had me hit it once but, nope, it turned red. Another time we tried pushing the button with our knuckles or back of the hand.

Not too long ago it used to be that you didnt put your bags through the X ray scanner, so you just had the red/green possible check.

Now you put your bags through the scanner, and still have to press the button. I guess it's redundant now, and hopefully it speeds things up getting through the airport.

We went up to the light together and I pushed it and got green, so mu hubby and I just walked right through, he didn't have to push the button as long as you go up together at the same time ;)

I have had the pleasure of tripping the light a couple timea. The searches were so cursory, it was a waste of time for everyone involved. They just looked in the sides of the bags and under the first layer of clothes. Too bad they can get rid of the TSA SSSS searches that are equally ineffective and inconvenient.

I don't know, it can be entertaining sometimes. We tripped the red light one time and the customs agent looked like he was 16. While searching my wife's bag, he accidentally shot her underwear about 6 feet. We laughed and he turned bright red.

We have been to Cancun three times and have got the red light twice. Lets hope we can drop to .500 on our trip next month.

5 times to Cancun on vacation (along with multiple other trips for business) and have never gotten the red light...of course I've now jinxed us for our trip in a month!
