D & I are going to do a short five day jaunt to the Valley of the Sun next month to visit a friend of ours. Since this will be our first trip to the Phoenix area (been to Vegas and LA a couple of times) and our friend will be working a couple of days while we are there, figured that I would ask for recommendations on activites to do while we are there on any "down" days should we decide to stray from the hotel. So if anybody who lives in the area or has visited there recently wants to give us some tips we would appreciate it. We are staying in Scottsdale (but will be leaving our clubs at home) and our friend lives in Mesa if this helps any. Thanks!
I would have to agree with Sedona! If you get that close to it, GO!! Here is a link to get you started on your research.... It has been voted one of the most beautiful places in all of America in several magazines, etc.... http://www.visitsedona.com/ Michelle
Thanks again. I've been checking out stuff on the internet and just don't seem to be finding a whole lot for the Phoenix area. We will most likely be heading out for a day or two while we are there. Sedona does look very inviting/interesting. Besides we would hate to not put mileage on our rental.
Just got back tonight and wanted to thank Liz & Michelle again. We did head up to Sedona on Wednesday and it was spectacular! Started by visiting Montezuma's Castle and Montezuma's Well on the way up. Once we got to Sedona, we shopped and dined @ Oaxaca. We ended the trip by hiking to the Vortex at Cathedral Rock. I'm not much of a "new age" person, but Dawn said that she could feel a difference while we were there. On this trip we were also working on a class assignment for our eight year old niece. We had "Flat Stanley" on the trip with us where we took photos at various location with him and kept a log. The students were encouraged to send their Stanley to a relative outside of our city in order to learn about other areas. It was pretty funny at Montezuma's Castle because were had him out and was taking a photo when some other people started chanting "Stanley, Stanley!". They told us that they too were participating on the same assignment (at another school). Their Flat Stanley had taken in a Diamondbacks game the night before. Our Stanley did get pics with the flight crew (to include the Pilot/First Officer in the cockpit) on the trip down. Plus Stanley got pinned by some nice folks from The Netherlands at our resort. So he did pretty well himself. Anyhoo... thanks again for the suggestion. I too would encourage anybody in the Phoenix area to also take in Sedona if they have the time. It is quite photogenic (even without Stanley).
I'm glad that you got to visit and that you enjoyed yourselves! Will you be sharing any of your pictures with us? I just KNOW you have got to have some awesome shots that you took in Sedona...... Michelle
