If you filed your return by April 15th and elected direct deposit for your refund, your stimulus check is suppose to hit your bank account at the earliest, this monday the 28th and at the latest, May 2nd. Michelle
Rumor has it that all GameCock fans got rebate checks last night.....Clemson fans rebate checks will be mysteriously lost, never to be found. Michelle Jus kiddin, I don't even know which ya are, but I hope your not a Tiger fan living in Cock Country??
Janie, I actually started to do that, then erased it as an option cause I thought folks wouldn't vote for anything but that option if I gave it to them.... :-| Michelle
Michelle, I asked that question on another board ... the answers ranged from a new hot tub, a new flat screen t.v., and airfare to Cancun ... I was thinking more like "fill up the gas tank", "pay my heating bill" ... something needed. Looks like people will spend it $$$$$ I said "spend it immediately" in your poll, but what I meant was ... as soon as I find decent airfare
I wasn't sure what I'd do with it when I posted the question. I just voted to spend it immediately. My truck will be paid off this friday and I've decided to go shopping for a ski boat today...... Michelle
.Just out of interest why do you all get tax rebates ? Over here your Income Tax ( tax on your earnings ) and National Insurance ( another form of tax that's meant to fund the National Health Service and your state pension )are deducted by your employer and all other tax's ( goods and services not deemed essential and therefore liable for ' Value Added Tax ' at 17.5% ) are included when you pay for said items. Your tax allowances ( what your allowed to earn tax free per annam ) are and then split into your pay periods ( IE if your paid weekly or monthly etc etc ) with your employer deducting the current tax percentage over the amount your allowed to earn tax free and then forwards it on to her majesty's government  The only time I can see where a tax refund is necessary is when it has been calculated incorrectly, you've paid too much due to moving employment ( although this is normally rectified by your new employer in their tax returns ) or your self employed and have paid too much but these scenario's are quite rare based on the amount of tax payers paying Just intersted really  Ian
This is something that was initiated by the Bush Administration to attempt to stimulate the economy. As long as I have been paying taxes, it has never happened before. We normally pay taxes all year long and our employers take out what we are suppose to pay, based upon the form that we give them upon hire. Each paycheck we pay federal taxes. In some states, we pay federal and state taxes, and in some states, we pay federal, state and local taxes.....jus depends on which state you live in and/or work in. Each April 15th is the deadline to file your income tax return. So typically get your W-2 form in January which lists how much has been taken out already from your employer for tax purposes. You use that document to fill out your return and find out if you owe more money for underpayment or you are due back a return of money for overpayment. Due to the sluggish economy right now, the Bush Administration felt that if they give people some money back that they were not expecting, they might spend it and spark the economy a tad. Most people are expecting this to be a one time "isolated" event...... Michelle p.s. There were other parts to the economic stimulus plan, but most folks don't know about anything but the rebate. Those who monitor their checks for accuracy each pay period, should have noticed a tiny increase a few months ago.
So I take it it pays to pick which state you live in so to speak, and are the salaries in those state's higher than in the ones where state tax is not levied ? Also is there such a thing as the minimum wage over in the State's ? Ian  :
