    Hey everyone,
Quick question, does the resort take credit cards as payment for the room booking or do they take just cash? I'm sure they take card, just making sure as I opted to not pay in full until we get there. I really dont want to get down there this Friday and find out that all they take is cash...
    Thanks for y'all's replies!

I would be careful using your credit card in Mexico. We've had our CC number stolen a few times after using it in Mexico. Also, your CC company might charge a foreign transaction fee. I know ours does.
    Enjoy your time at TTR!

You have to have a credit card to secure incidentals, I think. We always use a MasterCard, so the direct answer to your question is "Yes."

An item to be aware of is that your card might charge you more for the international transaction, so check that before you choose which one to use.

If u read tips on Mexico they highly recommend that u do not use a credit card at all unless it is extremely necessary.

You should call your credit card company far enough ahead of time to get a "pin" established similar to your bank debit card. Amex and Diners club both do that. Not all the vendors take "American" credit cards, though most do in Cancun since there so many tourists. TTR definitely takes both style of cards. The ones with the chips in them and the pin are the most secure. Thieves love American style credit cards, since they're so easy to spoof. Also, you should call a day or two before leaving and give them your travel dates, so your card won't get declined while traveling. The card company might think it was stolen if foreign charges start appearing on it.

Other than that, the nice thing about TTR Is its possible to not have to use your card at all.

I have also used prepaid Visa cards. Easy and handy to use and no worries about anything happening to it. I also have just 1 c/c for travelling. Small limit on it but still enough to do the things I want to do. I leave the rest at home.
