me and the wife are trying to put together a budget for the a trip in September and would like to know about how much money we should bring or is our MasterCard just fine.
Make sure to get singles before you leave. You will want to tip drinks, meals, maid, and drink guy (fills your fridge in your room). I would say plan to tip about 20 bucks a day. It may be hard to get singles at the resort. So, be sure to go to your bank to get them. A buck or two goes a long way for a hard working staff.
We agree with SoCalBeachLovers, A few dollars for the hard working staff really makes a difference. We usually spend $20/$25 per day total. Like they said get some ones and fives from your bank to take with you. After that you won't need any cash unless to go to town for the night, or find a poker game at the resort.
just a suggestion...call your bank and let them know you are traveling out of the country. This way if you use your credit card for something, they will not put a hold on it... happened to us once, even after we called the bank. lol
Not exactly sure what old money means, but if they can use it they will take it. One thing people always have to remember, the people that work at the resorts make 7 dollars a day. So anything you give them they appreciate, that can even be smokes.
If the staff is paid low wages like the staff at the resorts in Hawaii then they need all the extra cash that they can get. That is why we always tip the staff when we go to Desire. The great service that we get is a nice side part of our trip. We know that they help us hoping for a larger tip but $5 to us is a beer but to them $5 is 60 mexican dollars. But no matter if you tip or not the staff has always been great to everyone. We look forward to meeting eveyone in five weeks Jim and Deb
