We are starting to pack for our TTR trip on Dec 19 and had a few questions At some of the Jamaican resorts the chair cushions acted as floats in the ocean, does TTR provide those or do we need to go to Walmart and purchase the $3 ones? Are there any shopping areas across the street from TTR? How far down the beach can you walk in either direction? Anyone use the pre paid ATT go phone? I have one but haven't used it in awhile. anyone have any favorite rooms that we should ask for? We are arriving at 9 pm, will there be any places to eat? thanks for the help.
Wll we have only been there once so I guess I wouldn't take my word as solid but here goes... -don't believe they have floaties as the pool is not much deeper than chest height. and most people have brought their own from what we have seen. But a decent blow up sex doll works just the same. -Shopping? I think there is a pharmacy across the street? didn't know there was anything beyond the walls of TTR either though. -THERE'S A BEACH??!!!:brick:It is only about total of 300-400yds long, if that. Long enough to pay off the security and run a naked race, on a bet, the length and feel good about it. -forget your phone... my best advise. we took ours for emergency but know people need them for work and whatnot. Rates are higher if you use your main phone but it is a good reason to say why you can't talk rather than saying "sorry can't talk mom and dad.... the boobs are just so loud I can't hear you". We told our kids we would text a couple times which was cheaper than talking but had to call at least 2 times to cure that motherly feeling. -rooms are all a matter of choice and what kind of vacation you want. quiet= bldg 1&4&5, PARTY= bldg 2&3, better left to the pros on this one! -if you are coming in at 9 it is unlikely unless you can sneak into a spot in one of the restaurants either that or PatyO's has some KILLER burgers all night until bout 3am! tip em well and they will even make you one after that if they haven't completely cleaned up! been there done that.
No floatie things, shopping across the street is limited to pharmacy/ convenience store, money exchamge etc. Would suggest taking the bus left to the hotel zone where there are malls and markets or right to market 28. It is very easy and safe to take the bus. One street up and one street down. We walk the beach every mornining right to the resort. You can go past 3 three resorts and 2 condo complexes. It goes as far as the pirate ships at Embarcado then we would cross through to the main street and walk back to the resort, stop at the little convenience store out front and stock up on water for the day. For phone we always get a $10 phone card in the gift shop. There's 3 payphones throughout the resort you can use them at and I think they are 25 mins? You won't get anything to eat except burgers and fries at Patyo's until the wee hours.
The hotel doesn't have any types of floats to my knowledge. Theres not much shopping close. You can catch a can to an open air market (Market 21 I think its called). Its about a 20 min walk. Theres a Walmart right by the market as well. There is a small store and pharmacy across the street. You can walk as far as you want on the beach either direction. Probably can't use the chairs etc of the other resorts though. Always used our own ATT phones Just add the Mexico package. ITs $4.99 a month per line, plus a per minute fee. They also have several international texting packages. The buffet restaurant might still be open when you get there. If not you can grab a burger at PatyOs. As for a room, I'd ask for something by the quiet pool or the other end of the resort. If you are in a building around PatyOs you are going to be listening to Techno music blaring until 3 am.
Hi guys, With regards something to eat, the Fish restaurant and the Tex Mex don't require reservations and are open till approx 10pm, you can ask at the Italian or Asian to see if there are any cancellations - we always do this first night and always get in, or there's the buffet, or the late night grill at Paty Os. You'll be well fed all trip! Enjoy.
At some of the Jamaican resorts the chair cushions acted as floats in the ocean, does TTR provide those or do we need to go to Walmart and purchase the $3 ones? ** I doubt that you'll want to be floating in the ocean while on vacation at TTR, just saying. To answer the direct question, no they don't and yes you should if you think that you will. I sort of doubt it. There isn't a bar down there. Are there any shopping areas across the street from TTR? ** There's a little convenience store across the street, if you call that a "shopping area." Now, you "can" ride the bus or take a cab to any one of a number of indoor malls, or outdoor flea markets within a short ride away. How far down the beach can you walk in either direction? ** You can walk up the beach around the horn to Texas, and in the other direction, I think all the way to Belize. Anyone use the pre paid ATT go phone? I have one but haven't used it in awhile. ** Niope. I just call my provider (happens to be AT&T) and say I'm going to Mexico again, and could they activate International calling for a specificied period, and they do, and they pro-rate it for the time of the trip. Costs like whatever percentage of $6.95/mo. I'm gone, so maybe $2.00, and then I can call for the much lower rate on the phone I'm used to. Do NOT text to-from Mexico without some sort of data plan international thing, they are like $0.50 PER TEXT! Cheaper to talk, really. anyone have any favorite rooms that we should ask for? ** Temptation Suite 1139, if you want the upgrade. Otherwise, they are all places to shower, sexy it up, and sleep. We are arriving at 9 pm, will there be any places to eat? ** You will be introduced to your very first Patyo-'s Burger! You could eat at other places, but it'll be more fun to hit the bar immediately, and eat about an hour and a half later, right erhe in the party, so to speak. thanks for the help. ** No problem. Have a great time!
If you have an unlocked phone you can purchase a Mexican Sim card,,, if you r going to be making a lot of calls. Your country of origin plays a factor in n your choice Canadian Co,s have crappy international plans ($1 @ min ),, while some USA couriers offer some good ones.
Normally I use Magic Jack in Jamaica or Grand Cayman. Don't have much choice, I use the phone a LOTTTT. I'm one of the few living people that can still program in Intel 8080 CPM !! I can be very popular sometimes. Thanks for al of the help, Answered all of our questions and then some.
