When I send a Private Message it shows as a Read Message as soon as I send it. This is a problem because I don't know when the receiver has read it, to know when I can delete it to stay below my 50 message total. Any hints on how to fix this other that clicking the read reciept option for every message, which then creates more traffic on the Board? Thanks... Jamie
There's no other way than using the "Request a read receipt for this message" option I'm afraid. Even then the recipient can choose not to send a receipt *I think*. The old board did have the sentbox/outbox system, but this board uses the read receipt to achieve the same purpose - the sent/outbox system is not a configurable option with this software. I wouldnt worry about the extra board resources, it's negligible. A read receipt just creates one more database call and there are hundreds of calls being made each minute.
Thanks... is there a way for me to set that as a default as opposed to remembering each time? Also in doing the Roll Call I'm hitting a charcter limit in the post which I think is due to the repeated formating for each entry. Is there a way to get around that or do I have to go in and remove all the formatting to make it fit? Thanks again... Jamie
I just checked and no there isnt a way to default requesting a read receipt each time. As for character limit per post that is strange. The max chars per post is set at 10,000 and I'm sure you are no where near that on the roll call - probably not more than a few hundred. I've also not had similar problems with the roll calls I maintain. Maybe consider taking out all the ...... and making a new line for dates? Anyway I've increased it to 20,000 chars per post but I'm not sure this will fix the issue.
I'm thinking when I copy the old one to post to the new one it converts all the .. I forget what it's called.. it's Sunday.. anyway the script that sets the fonts, color and sizes to text for each line. So when you add in all those characters it could get that high. I'll try editing those out, since they are the same throughout the post and see what the count is... Jamie
