    Hi everyone,
First time to an all inclusive. I know gratuities are included but surely the servers, maids and bartenders would appreciate something more. What is a reasonable tip to leave for airport transfer driver, waiter, housekeeper, bartender, etc without offending them and to insure great service? Do they like tips in USD or pesos?

    Thanks!

Russ I think you will get 100 different answers to this question, obviously some people make more money then others or have different ideas about who, what and how to tip... Your best bet is use your judgement, bring a wad of singles and fives, when you see how hard the bartenders are working give them what you think is right, if you have a waiter that worked hard to make your meal better, again its your judgement, ive tipped groundskeeper etc.. but I personally do not think there is a right or wrong answer to this question, cuz again you will get so many different opinions and a debate of opinions... Only you know your financial situation and what your comfortable with... you were smart enough to pick Temptations to vacation at, so im sure your judgement on tipping will be good enough...

Well, I guess I ask since I usually tip 15-20% of the bill for good service but since there is no bill for drinks or services I just wanted to get some opinions on it. Thanks for getting back with me. Can't wait to be there tomorrow.

no problem its always tough to tell someone, cuz what I might do isnt the same as what the next person might do, for dinners if there is a group we all throw in a few bucks, for lunch at the buffet or margaritas ill throw in a few dollars, My dinners I usually tip at least ten bucks cuz they do a great job of serving you and the food is good. but for breakfast and lunch which is basic I throw down a few singles... bartenders on the other hand I have a few of my favorites that I tip much more then others, but I tip them away from the bar so that its theirs and not going into the shared pile. but I always try to throw a handful of singles in the shared tip jar per day maybe 10 bucks or so at the sexy pool and then again at the Patty O's. and then if someone is a standout or one of my favorites , I take care of them seperately. I throw the made some singles and whatever mexico peos change I have per day and I try to throw the groundskeeper a few dollars. Again it depends on the person and how much money you have to spend or like to spend, I think in september my friend and I spend almost 200 in tips, that was a lot for me, but the service seemed to make it reasonable cuz I the premier guys were always filling my drinks. Have a great trip

    Tip away

A good idea is to drop a couple bucks to the bartenders on your first day. They are SO hard working and seldom appreciated, it is nice to tip them up front. I usually tip the first day, then like the third a couple bucks, etc. They appreciate it and fill your drinks faster than those who don't ;) I always say goodbye and slip a few bucks to them again before I leave.

Jim is right (OK- every now and then he is correct, this being one of them.. lol). Anyway, I also bring a stack of tens also. As a starting point (and as Jim said, you'll get a ton of replies....) what Joyce and I usually do-

Airport Transfer driver- $2 per bag. Waiter- Breakfast and lunch- $2 or 3. Dinner- $3 for buffet , $5 or 10 at speciality restuarant depending on service. Housekeeper- $2 per day, $5 or 10 the last day. Bartenders- $5 at each bar each day. $10 the last day. And if you want a room change upon check in, I'll give another $10 or $20. Of course subject to change depending on the mood... but this is our basic rule of thumb.
