Looking forward to our trip in November. We are planning on bringing either a laptop or a netbook in order to check emails and such with our kids back home. Question is this: are the safes/safe deposit boxes in the rooms large enough to accommodate a laptop or should we play it safe and bring the smaller netbook? Thanks for any replies! :icon_confused:
I'd say a small one (13" or smaller) should fit, but since wireless can cost up to $15 per day I say leave a big bag of catfood out and once the kids get hungry they'll think it tastes great! For emailing etc, I'd just pay the $5 for the 15 minutes or half hour. After all if you are looking at a computer screen all day down there you are missing out!
we took both our ipad and laptop, and left them both out in plain site. no issues. I truely beleive that no staff member is going to risk a job at a resort with tips, to steal something like that.
I was able to keep my ipad in the safe, but only a really small laptop might fit inside the safe (not much bigger than an ipad). We have been there three times and not had a problem at all with staff stealing anything - I think it is very true that it would not be worth the risk to them to even be accused of it. Even when we left clothes/bathing suits draped on furniture to dry, they didn't go through anything. The staff take really great care of the guests - better than I can say for most hotels I've stayed at in the US.
The safe should easily hold a 14 inch laptop placed at an angle. That said, agree that you could safely leave it out. More importantly, leave it home!
We fit a mac book pro in our safe no prob, you can also use the hotel computers for checking email etc. $5 for 30mins. This is what we will do from now on.
My $800 Nikon Camera and it's accessories did not fit in the safe (we had other stuff in there too, and it wouldn't all fit together). It was not a problem leaving it out. No one bothered it. I have insurance on my camera, so if you are really worried, I recommend getting insurance on your laptop or netbook. It's cheap and will make you feel better about losing it, destroying it, or having it stolen.
Agree with WindyCityCouple, we don't carry extra insurance and left our bag with $1500 worth of camera equipment, 2 iPads and a laptop out with zero issues. Don't worry about it and enjoy like we did.
Pro Tip: Don't set your password whilst drunk, you may not remember it. (I may have done this once or three times)
