    Curious ---

I booked travel through Travelocity - for a single person. But, even though I'm going solo, I'm paying for double-occupancy rates at TTR, correct?

So, if at the last minute, a friend decides to go.... they don't need to pay for a room, and can just stay in mine? Would they have to pay the AI fee, or am I technically paying double for everything, except for airfare? Thx.

Have you booked the room as double occupancy? That's the key. I doubt you have so you'll very likely need to get roomier to pay the AI fees......

    Pretty sure but not positive!

I am interested in the answer as well because I was wondering the same thing. I am coming single but I am definitely paying double occupancy rates. Travel agent said even though I was going alone I had to pay double occupancy rate at resort.

I was pretty sure there is normally a room rate for a single that is less (not significantly) than the double room rate.

You might want to check with the hotel directly and see how your reservation is booked.

From what I have seen on some sites...a solo rate is 150% of half of the double rate. What I would be wary of in trying to add a roomie if you paid the double rate to whatever travel site / travel agent you booked with is that TTR is told you are traveling solo. TTR is probably paid as if you are a solo guest and are not concerned that you paid a double rate to your travel provider...

Unfortunately the other person will have to pay as well. I went solo last year and s friend wanted to go last minute i checked with the agent I went thru and it was a no go for her.

For my time frame (Late Nov 2015), it was $153/ night for one person at time of booking or $192/ night for two people at time of booking. The extra person AI fee would have been $80/night - total would have been $233. So if you can re-book it for two people, it would save you some $.

You'd need to verify if your booking is in fact for just one person, but if you did it through Travelocity, you are most likely booked as a single. I would contact Travelocity & have them switch it to a two person booking if you're sure you'll be bringing another. If you won't know until last minute, then the extra person would have to pay the AI fee per day when you arrive - which also may vary depending on the time of the year you are traveling - I am not sure if the AI fee is standard or changes with high/low season.

Get your rate confirmed for the extra person and set in advance by the hotel or re-book is my recommendation. I had to really work hard to get a reasonable rate because I didn't last April when I had a 2d person for my stay. They wanted $250/night for the extra person, which was more than I paid for the room and my rate...was all I could do to talk them down to $150. They have no problem with checking in the extra person, but they are going to hold you up for the rate unless you get it negotiated in advance.

    Hi

It maybe to late now as you are leaving on Sunday. I was thinking of asking someone to come with me and am staying at the same time as you. So I sent an email to the hotel. They want $150 per night for second person.

So I'm on my own!! Maybe have more fun anyway. Lol

See you at the bar. What's your tipple?
