Ok, so a couple of odd questions: Push brooms - does anyone know where to get them?? Knives: Im on the hunt for a "Rambo"-type knife. Found some at the little "hut" in Wal Mart(centro), but the prices are laughable. Last, but not least: Anyone know where to find a good knife-sharpener? Our kitchen-knives are getting dull, and Im NEVER giving it to the dudes that come by the house to sharpen, as they messed one up, completely...
Rawkus, I've seen pushbrooms at Chedraui,WalMart,Home Depot and a number of hardware and tool stores on both Avenida Chichen and Lopez Portillo. Also I've seen files and sharpening stones at the hardware and tool stores on Chichen and Lopez Portillo. I have not seen a knife sharpener or the type of knife you have shown. I will keep an eye out for them in my travels.
SCMcons: Ive inly seen regular, soft brooms in Chedraui, Wal Mart etc. I need one that is harder and has the angle as in the pic. Thanks for the tips, Ill go for a walk today, hehe My bad on the knife and sharpener: The knife in the pic is what Im after(the type) but the sharpener is for kitchen knives. This is almost the exact one I have back home:
Rawkus, Come to think of it I've only seen the soft brooms at Chedraui and WalMart. I'm not sure about Home Depot. I have seen the harder bristle pushbrooms at some of the hardware and tool stores. I'll pay more attention and when I see one I'll get back with the location. I understood that was the type of knife you were looking for. You can sharpen kitchen knives with a fine file and sherpening stone. It definitely isn't as quick as the sharpener you were speaking about. There is a restaraunt supply store on Yachilan, I don't know if they would have any type of knife sharpeners.
SCMcons: Yeah, seen literally hundreds of the regular(soft) brooms. They are everywhere, in all colors and shapes, haha Im actually looking for both the knife in the picture AND a sharpener. The knife will be for fishing/hiking, as well as personal protection when walking the dogs in the evenings. The sharpener will mainly be for the kitchen-knives. Found a decent sharpener on Wal Mart´s online store in the US, so might get a mule to bring it down. Found the same one on Mercadolibre, but it will cost 4 times more than having a friend bringing the US one down. Ill have a look in the restaurant supply store on Yachilan as well. Im still lost when it comes to the knife: The little kiosk in Wal Mart hasnt been open the last 6 times Ive been there...
