you going, V? I did this series last year and enjoyed it. It is a good way to watch your times and see (if there is any) progression. I"m up 5kg from the Iwanman and feeling quite portly these days.
No, Kathy, no competing for me, at this time: I'm now planning to do my next 5K in August, when the local city government starts its tuneup races leading up to the Annual Night Marathon, which is in December. My distance is 5K, only: I've never been much of a runner, and do these things only to test my fitness. I choose 5Ks in part because I don't like to run slow, and would rather push myself to go faster, rather than farther. When you study the times for races beyond 5K it becomes apparent that the best runners can run the 26 miles, 285 years of a marathon nearly as fast as the best runners can run the 6 plus miles of the 10K: there seems to be a point of equilibrium reached between oxygen uptake and oxygen needs on the longer races which may not the case at distances less than 10K. My wife is the opposite of me, on this point: she hates going faster, and gets exertion headaches if she does, but can run at her own, comfortable pace indefinitely....
