Is there any public transportation from El Centro/Sam´s - Walmart to El Poliforum Benito Juárez for the Pioneros bastketball games, if taxis are the only option, what should I expect to pay? Thanks

Not much of an expert on public transport but I think you'd need to take a bus from the main ADO bus deposit in downtown Cancun. Any bus that goes to Puerto Morleos or Playa del Carmen will pass by but I'm not sure about stopping.

For taxis depends where you are going from, but from downtown Cancun I'd guess the fare at around 100-150 pesos.

The published taxi rates show $65 to Bonfil and $90 to Centro de Abastos, both from the central business district. The Poliforum is closer to Bonfil. They have to charge the rate on the card (or less) but not more. Also, they don't have to take you. $65 is a steal for you.

You could take the public bus for $6.5 which would be an adventure. But it goes all through Bonfil and then heads to the end of the route, Centro de Abastos. It would take forever, then you would have to get off at the right place and cross a dangerous highway. That's the good news. You would then have to walk quite a way down the road to the forum and I don't think there are sidewalks.

Bottom line - take a cab but NOT from Sam's or Walmart, where the fees are higher at these "Sitios" or taxi stands. But just walk out to the street and flag one down and you get the rates on these cards which they keep over there visors. If they try to jerk you around, make the driver show you the card. In this case the rate is outrside the bottom right corner of the map.

Getting out of there will be a challenge but cabs will be available, just lots of folks may be looking to get one. Worst case is you hike out to the road and flag one down there. If they mostly work the downtown area they will come back this way, and not thru the Hotel Zone.

    Good luck and have fun.
