    Cha-ching!

Fall and Spring Property Taxes have come out here in Central Indiana and it's a 100% increase for many folks. Not sure what we're getting for the increase. The bonus is that the tax bills came out late and they are due in early August. The Governor here is talking about breaking up the Senate's Summer recess to discuss tax relief.

I can see the local government getting fatter by collecting a lot of penalty fees. Also see quite a few Property Auctions/Tax Sales in the near future. Most unfortunate. It's gotten so bad that people have been referring to the Boston Tea Party lately. Ha!

So has anybody else gotten it handed to them by "The Man" lately?

Marvin Gaye said it best many years ago and it still rings true today.

    Inflation no chance
    To increase finance
    Bills pile up sky high
Send that boy off to die
    Make me wanna holler
The way they do my life

    Hang ups, let downs
    Bad breaks, set backs
    Natural fact is
    I can't pay my taxes
    Oh, make me wanna holler
And throw up both my hands

    inner city blues~

The government is very good at spending the public's money without regard for waste or vice. Forget about flower power, peace, and love; utopia for me would be if government would spend tax payers money as if it were there own.

Just a follow up here... The Governor did freeze property taxes at last year's rate for a handful of counties. Seems as though there were some discrepancies with some business taxes going totally unchanged or going up very little thus transferring the tax burden on property owners.

Also, I personally don't smoke but July 1st, the Governor slapped on another tax on cigarettes (around 30+ cents a pack... it's around $34 or so for a carton of Marlboros (I think)) to fund health care for those less fortunate, which is admirable, but with continually rising taxes, everybody in Indiana will be needing the aforementioned health care. Just the other day they were tossing around the thoughts of implementing a higher local income tax (Indiana has both State and Local County Income taxes).

So anybody have any suggestions where we can pack up and move to?
