Just a little background,we have been to TTR 15 times and didn't purchase our contract until after out 11th time there. Tonight we were asked by some friends of ours to check on our referral rates for TTR in Oct, what a shock!! I logged into the web site and found the referral rate was $147 a night as compared to $140 a night for myself on a contract rate, so explain to me why we spent thousand of dollars for the contract ??
That's the question I'd ask any "member". I will say the difference is usually more......but extreme deals are out there all the time especially in the summer months.
The same for us in September. I was beginning to think that I was the only one thinking the members are getting a big-time screwing this fall. I went back and forth with Eduardo from Premier via emails. His response: Thank you for your email. As you know the rates for Referrals are discounted prices over the “regular” rate. When the regular rate drops so will the Referrals rate do. But it will never be lower than the owners rate and it is subject to a discount that the hotel might have… such thing will happen probably once a year. But you can take advantage of this and send us many Referrals that come to see the program and make some money for you I was unable to get him to understand that when referrals are paying $147.90 per night and members are paying $140 per night, the referrals are actually paying less per night than members since we prepaid over $30 per night by buying in. His next response: Thank you for writing back. I understand your concerns and your math adds up.. but I would like you to note that you are comparing one season in this year. That is not the whole picture. Our members are not tied to wait for an special from the resort or just to travel in the lowest season, your savings are going to be substantial as the time passes. Remember that you made an investment on a 25 years contract, 350 nights plus (potentially) 1000 USD per year by using your referral weeks. I finally gave up trying to get him to see how members are getting screwed with the $140 per night cost. Our total cost per night ends up being somewhere around $170. It's a joke that they try to convince you that your referrals are a way to reduce the price of your investment - referrals are so plentiful anymore that they are falling out of trees. we don't even bother trying to move any of them. At these prices, why join? Just come on a referral every time - it's not like its hard to get a referral, Everybody has 4 or so they are trying to get rid of. I just keep telling myself that it is still a better deal than I was getting from Expedia(and it is) but I am still kinda pissed. It's not a better deal than it would be if we were coming on a referral. How messed up is that? Firm
We are going on a referral in September, paying around that 140 per night. About the same price as many web sites. Not sure of any financial benefit of buying.
Dumb question, but this one was going around our group this past June... The numbers you guys speak of is that a per person or per couple price? Jeff
We just bought someones contract, so we got a little better deal on the initial investment, We only have 2 Referrals a year, which like was stated is no big deal since Referrals are a dime a dozen to come by,and Im not gonna push a referral in an overcrowded market. I have a question, we just bought the contract and had already booked a 6 night stay in April. Do you think I should get a white band even though I booked as a red band? Trying to figure out the best way to handle and request that. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Yes, if you are a member now, and your name is on a contract. Then you will get a white band. (that is my understanding, and I am pretty sure it is correct)
Thanks Steve,That is my hope, I was told I have to talk to a manager or concierge when we arrive, Ill walk in with contract in hand lol
