Premier members, have you received the information about two (2) new Premier by Original Resorts properties located in Playa Del Carmen? Both properties are for the room only (European plan) and no AI fees are associated with the resorts. The two properties are Mistik and Aldea. Based on the information on the Premier website outlining no mandatory AI fees we should in theory be able to stay at the property at no charge when we use our "BONUS" weeks. The AI fees that Premier charges its members are:
The Seventh Clause - All-Inclusive Package - Both parties agree that the all-inclusive package rate are limited to:
    · All Meals Consumed at the Hotel
    · All beverages
    · 7 theme parties
    · Recreational sports and social activities
    · Beach kit for Children
    · Coffee in room
    · Bicycle’s for our use during our week stay
    · Diving lesson Demo
    · Non motorized sports
    · Tips
    · All taxes
    · Safety Deposit boxes
Nowhere in the contract does it state the AI fee is for the room itself. On the contrary.
The nineteenth clause (rights of the membership) further outlines the members right by stating: "THE MEMBER", by acquiring the membership shall be entitled to enjoy the right below described provided he is current in the payment obligations and has paid the ALL INCLUSIVE FEE.
    a) To enjoy and use, by means of a previous reservation, one room of the hotel unit ad detailed in Annex A herof, at the Blue Bay Cancun Hotels located in Cancun, Quitana Roo, Mexico and in terms of this contract.
    b) The Member shall be entitled to make reservations at any of the hotels operated or owned by the BLUE BAY Chain currently located in Cancun, Mexico. Such hotels may be changed and new ones added and the reservations will be subject to space availability being understood that in the event of an internal exchange within the hotels in the BLUE BAY Chain, the room will be different to the one described in Annex "A" hereof.

    Annex "B"- Internal By-laws
ARTICLE ONE. INTERNAL BY-LAWS.- These by-laws are issued in fulfillment of the MEXICAN OFFICIAL NORM {NOM 029- SCFI-1 998),
and they contain the rules of operation to which, the operation and services referred to in the Contract to acquire a Memberships of the Blue Bay Premier Vacation Club, shall be subject to.

ARTICLE TWO.- In these by-laws it shall be understood by:

    D. BLUE BAY PREMIER CLUB.- The premises to be used and enjoyed by "THE MEMBER" which premises include the rooms where "THE MEMBER" will stay, and its common and commercial areas.
    G. ROOM.- The area inside the hotel where "THE MEMBER" will stay and Whose characteristics will be specified in annex "A" of this instrument
K.ALL INCLUSIVE FEE.-Is the mandatory the charge per person per night to be paid by THE MEMBER" every time he/she makes a reservation to stay at the Blue BAY hotels, so he/she can use the room, ''THE MEMBER" will pay "THE OPERATOR" the all inclusive fee which may vary depending of the season of the year; by means of a bank deposit, at its address, described in clause twenty-ninth or by means of a national or international credit card.
L.ALL-INCLUSIVE SERVICE OR PACKAGE,-those foods, beverages and service listed and which are included in the price of the ALL INCLUSIVE FEE

Because there in no AI fee when you make a reservation to either of these properties you should in "THEORY" not have to pay for the room itself. The contracts define "ALL-INCLUSIVE" and what is included in the AI fee.

I have a call and email out to Premier so they can clarify this. WE all know what they're going to say but I still had to find out what they are charging members for if there is no AI included at the resorts. Our contract is pretty clear that the room is covered with our bonus weeks and the AI fees are additional. I think there legal staff will have to review and reply to this one. WE all know what the outcome will be as they seem to change the contract on a whim and do not care what the consequences are because there are none.

MANY of us have learned NOT to trust anything Premier says or does. They lie cheat and claw there way to your money. Lesson learned the hard way here.

We have saved $15K on travel costs since we bought this membership. One way or another we will recoup our initial cost for the membership. another $5K to go and we will be at the break even stage. We should be able to hit that mark next year.

Haven't received anything. Then again I've never got anything from them except when they noticed after selling a few memberships that there bank account # was wrong. Since then the only thing I get from them is if I request something. Otherwise I'm out of sight out of mind to them.

It seems I have sparked an internal conversation within Premier regarding the two resorts being European style resorts and not Mandatory All-inclusive resorts. The contracts only state we pay the all-inclusive fee and the room is paid for using our bonus weeks. LOOPHOLE, LOOPHOLE, LOOPHOLE...they are discussing this matter and will be contacting me soon.

But we know they will weasle out of the wording in the contract. They always do.

I must say, I booked through Skoosh this trip instead of my membership...expecting to get a parking lot view, I instead was actually able to see a glimpse of the ocean and the entire quiet pool side, the beach part made no difference to me and I was not worried about the upgraded menu, so for the nearly 800 bucks I saved.... I may be skooshing it more often

And that in a nutshell is the problem with the crazy AI fee increases over the years.

So I just tried to book my flight through RCI which I do every year to come down to Temptations. I use the maximum allowed points and I pay the remainder for the flight. I was told that the resort has taken my 80,000 points back that I had and have closed my account. I cannot believe this. We have not paid our Maintenance Fee this year yet which goes toward the AI fee we have to pay when we book. We usually don't even pay the fee in January and just pay it all at booking. They have never had a problem with it before and besides it says in the contract that we have to miss 2 or more consecutive years of AI Fees in order for it to be cancelled.

It seems like there being much more aggressive in going after people over the last six months or so. I think all the BS they caused has really stirred people up. Many have stop making payments of any kind to them.

Looks like you'll have to call them and get things figured out.

My 2 cents and my new campaign (PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO TO TEMPTATIONS AND GET INTO THE SALES ROOM)

I am in the boat of people that bought a few years ago (summer of 2007). For 20K I got 5.6M RCI points over 25 years, 9 weeks a year at Premier resorts. They also agreed to take our old timeshare in Orlando off of our hands in a trade-in. We pay $500 a year in fees that can be applied to our AI fees when we book. These fees can be rolled over from year to year. Your weeks meant that you were to get the room free and pay the AI fees (supposedly a $500 value).

We were told at the time there was an unlimited use on points for RCI points partners (this included flights). At the time you could fly anywhere in the US or Central America for $49 plus 90,000 points. Also, there was no fee to use more than your annual allotment of ~220K point per year. We were told at the time we bought that they had rental program where you could rent out weeks you didn’t use and that the average owner was renting 4 to 5 weeks a year at $500.

We bought our first timeshare at a very young and with very little understanding of finance. Once we learned the truths of timeshare we sat through dozens of presentations and took the free gift before going to Temptations for the first time in 2007. I am now a CPA. If you have a strong understanding of two concepts, time value of money and opportunity cost you can do the math and understand that almost no time share is ever a good investment. I say almost because by the numbers, this one was a good investment when we bought it. It was worth it at the time for three reasons, the unlimited use of you RCI points for points partner items (flights), the supposed rental program and not being locked into maintenance fees for life.

Since we purchased the following has occurred:

    1. A year in, RCI backed out on the deal they made with Premier and limited the points partner usage to 60K point per year. (Item 1 that made the investment make sense – gone)

    2. We found out that the so called rental program is a sham. After paying the fee we submitted 5 of our weeks for 2 years the way we were instructed and each year we were told no weeks rented. Later I read somewhere that some disgruntle Premier employees admitted that no rental program actually exists. Supposedly if you raise enough sand, you can get them to say you "rented" one week. (Item 2 that made the investment make sense – flat out lie)

    3. The first year we were there, Owners received top-shelf alcohol, 2008 gone.

    4. In order to try and “fix” the problem, on our trip last summer (2009) they offered us the wonderful “new” package in which they actually had the balls to ask us to pay more to switch. Do the math, even if they gave you the “new” package on an even swap it is not worth as much as my old package even with all that was taken away (or never existed in the first place). I was highly insulted at this gesture.

    5. They never actually took my old resort. I had to donate it to a charity last year to get rid of it.

    6. I just called about booking this year and found out that AI prices for owners have been raised ~$75 per night per couple over what we paid last year for owners. I looked up the same trip for non-owners on the internet at a random all-inclusive site and found that if I booked the same room I would pay 1750 (with airfare, tax tag and title) compared to 1715 plus the cost of our flight as an owner. And what would we get extra, four upgraded dinners and canned Dos Equis in the room. Obviously we are not getting the room for free with our 9 weeks.

We have been very patient about this, hoping that Premier would make good. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!! Look, we will use all 220K RCI point per year, including 60K toward a pair of flights (until they take that away) and we will let our $500 build up and take a trip to Temptations or Desire every couple or few years (I sure they will take away the roll-over at some point also) and we may still come close to a break-even point with all inputs factored in. BUT, IT IS NOT WHAT WE PURCHASED!!!

I have hit my breaking point on this now. I will not try to discuss it with Premier anymore because it is a waste of my time and breath. I will however do everything I can to cost them a hundred times what they have failed to deliver to me. There is one way to effectively fight this. I will tell everyone that I know going to Temptations our story. The weeks I go to Temptations or Desire, I will sit in the pool and warn everyone I can, NOT TO BUY. I will encourage all of you to do the same. You must realize that if it works it will most likely diminish your purchase even further or wipe it out totally. At this point I do not care about the 20K anymore. I am so sick of customer no service!!!

If you have read to this point, thank you and please take this to heart. These are the facts and if you read around enough you will find my story is backed by many people.

    Get naked and have fun,

    No Worries in GA
