OK, I hope to shake out some old timers (uh, maybe I should say those with experience)! I have seen FREQUENT laments about how great it used to be at TTR before the renovation, but not so much with the new TTR. While there are many "wish it was like it was before the renovation" comments, I've seen extremely little depth into "WHY " it was so much better! Details, folks, details! I KNOW I WILL MISS LOTS WITH THIS COMMENT, but I would be amazed not to get a book out of two seeming experts: FakeNews Team and John of the Stacia_and_John fame - - and many others! OK, folks, lets hear it! We actually MIGHT plant some idea seeds with the management if they hear (uh read) some compelling accounts of how great it USED to be, and to be fair, the possibly better things of the current TTR! Let 'er rip!
Sheesh... nothing like getting called out... OK, some bullet points. But... let's start with this. "Old TTR" was in pretty bad shape as a "Hotel." It was out of date, had some serious plumbing and related infrastructure problems, and the service areas were falling apart around you while you were partying there. That being said, it was Very Much like your favorite dive bar, where you've been going for years, everyone knows your name, everyone can cut loose and have a great time and "Nobody knows you and Nobody gives a shit." Right? Right! So, ignoring the "cosmetic" changes to TTR, primarily the difference is all about the sexy fun factor... meaning the deviltry, the debauchery, the scandalous things that went on there at TTR which are actively (Security) prohibited now. Not that you can't get into some shenanigans at post-reno TTR, you can and we have, but we didn't use to have security blowing whistles at people giving balcony shows, for example. Now? All the time, until they are starting to be a disappearing art form. In the below, "not so much" means literally that... it can be done and has been done, but a LOT less than pre-reno. We "used to" be able to do bodyshots, wherever/whenever. Now? Not so much. We "used to" be able to get stacks, literally, of some fun shot or other, to have hot girls walk around Patyo's and deliver randomly, , wherever/whenever. Now? Not so much. We "used to" be able to enjoy really naughty games and shows around the Sexy Pool. Now? Not so much. There'd be shows/games where a couple would get up there and be "simulating" having fun time behind a towel, and wallah, towel drops and full on BJ happening... and kept happening, while crowd goes nuts and you hear the shouts of "Five! Five! Five! Five! Five!" from the guy on the mike (He "used to" be named Chinos, and now he works for Steve on the Boobs Cruise - which IS cool). We "used to" be able to occasionally get some hot lady or ladies fully nude in or around the Sexy Pool. Now? Not so much. Games, shows, random strut to the bar to get a round of drinks, laying down on the swim-up bar to be the "table" for bodyshots, see above.... And now, not so much. We "used to" be able to go down to the beach after partying at Patyo's and "fool around" with your special person (the forever person or the one, sometimes for some folks "ones" is a better term LOL!, you just met. Now? Not so much. We "used to" be able to close the shower door. Now? Not so much. We "used to" be able to find a drawer into which we could put all sorts of sundry items. Now? Not so much. We "used to" be able to crack open the curtain, leaving it in place for someone sleeping and go out on the patio/balcony and enjoy the sunrise without waking the other person. Now? Not so much, as the stupid machine has to "grind it up" so you can just get outside. You HAVE to have it down if you want to sleep with the curtain closed. Neat in Vegas, where there is no balcony. NOT neat in Mexico, where there is and someone always wants to go see the sunrise. We "used to" have lingerie Casino Night. Now? Not so much. We "used to" say "See you at Nice Shoes for the show." Now? Not so much. THAT, I'll say IS an improvement, as Nice Shoes was not a "good venue. The new Sports Bar is way better... IF it would just stay open, right? We "used to" be able to see the ladies boobies when they were standing int he Sexy Pool. Now? Not so much. Anyway, enough for now.
the new pool is great ..but the old pool was smaller so the party was more localized . I have gone a full day with someone I know at the new pool at the same time and never see them since they were at the other end . the old pool was not as deep so shorty girls and guys didn't feel like they were drowning as they mingled use to you would party at patios get to hot and run over to the sports pool and jump in at night and party you could even have a runner go back up to patios and grab a tower of shots for the people in the pool . Can't do that now
It sounds like temptations used to be more like Desire RM. Maybe they are just specializing each resort to reach a broader crowd. You can do all those things at both Desire resorts.
We started going about 5 years before the renovation. So not as far back as a lot of the others on this sight. Over all we like the facilities better after the reno. Some of the maintenance issues were getting pretty hard to overlook. I used to tell my wife that it was the dumpiest place we ever stayed, and she would tell me "I am having more fun here than anywhere else we go so I don't care". The worst thing about the renovation for is is the pool depth. My wife is 5ft 0 inches tall so the pool depth is horrible. They had some really cool shows on lingerie night in Nice Shoes. But the place was crowded and hot. Nice Shoes as a venue sucked ass. The sports bar was almost as bad. The cigar bar sucked so bad most people don't even remember it. It sucked so bad they didn't even use it. They had a hot tub above the bathrooms out by the sexy pool that was more like something you would put in your own back yard. Not something you would expect to find at a resort. Ok before you all start shooting arrows at me I will say I agree with pretty much everything Stacia and John said above. There are things we like a lot better than pre reno. There will be a lot who disagree with this one but we really like the roof top pools and bar. Nothing at the old resort even compared to it. We have had several amazing parties up there. Having said that you have to be there with the right group of people. The kind of people that know how to make their own party. Another thing we like is the hot tub next to bash. Its a good place to meet after getting out of the pool for the day to make plans for the rest of the evening. We like to go there and meet up with friends fool around a little visit a little and make plans for the evening. The sports bar is a huge improvement over the old one. If only as stated above they would leave it open. It is a great party spot on a rainy day though. I feel that the changes to the facilities improved the resort. The thing that made it worse is the management style. I am guessing that would have most likely changed with or with out the renovation. Before the renovation the only reason we went there was for the great parties. Now if we could just continue to have the great parties in the new and improved facilities.
I agree with what @Stacia_and_John posted . I will add: At pre-reno Temptation, there seemed to be so many chairs/beds for non-Premier members. Nowadays, it seems they want non-Premier members, aka regular guests, to feel left out. Pre-reno Temptation was fun to walk around: Sexy Pool, Sports Pool, Quiet Pool. Post-reno TTR has many places you can slip, stumble and trip because of tricky, barely visible steps. Pre-reno TTR had PatyOs, which was super fun and if you didn't leave there smelling like greasy hamburgers, you weren't there long enough. The bartenders used to get up on the bar during the YMCA song and it was a BLAST! Post-reno TTR has Bash, and I'm always worried someone will fall off that elevated dance stage. Pre-reno TTR Sexy pool had those nice fun-holes, great for meeting people. New Sexy pool's water is wayyy too high for me (I'm 5'2... water is up to my chin!) And as was mentioned before, pre-reno TTR was so much raunchier, wilder and they let so many things go because, you know, we're all adults and we paid to be there. Nowadays, it all feels censored and sanitized to a PG-13 level. Don't get me wrong: I still love Temptation, I just loved it a little more before the renovations.
Agree with all of the above, glad the Sports Pool got a mention, great place to chill after partying at Pato's... no red & yellow cards then LOL, you also got Naked Tequila Volley Ball there, Ladies Jelly (Jello) wrestling on the beach but big thank you for reminding us of mid-night at Patyo's and the guys doing YMCA on the bar...happy memories of a wilder time !!! Yeah, the hotel is much better (apart from the bloody blinds and bedroom furniture ) BUT so are a thousand other hotels around the world ..... it was party central, that no other outlet had....
we never went into nice shoes because of the smell .. so the reno was very much needed and TTR is still the best party place we know of .. the staff is beyond amazing so even though some things have changed we still love the place
Don't let it get to you it is still a great party resort. Some times as you get older your memory remembers things a little better than it was and you long for that perfect party like the one you had ten years ago. I am sure we will have some pretty amazing parties in our future visits to Temptation. If you have never been you have nothing to compare it to so you will think its awesome. But us veterans will still tell you how much better it used to be. Even though when it rained the sewer would back up and it stunk so bad at Patio's you had to leave to avoid puking.
