Possible Trip For Sale---Vacation Gurus please help!

First off....I am very upset and mad! This will come as a bit of a rant!

Not only was my passport printed wrong and I had to send it back off again....I went to get our travel documents today and......

THE DATES ARE A MONTH WRONG!! :ranting1:

We were supposed to be going May 15-20th, and the trip got booked for April 15-20th. Now, if we didn't have 5 boys, jobs, schooling, etc etc. we would just say YEY and go in April! BUT, this is why people plan vacations to fit around their schedules. SO....to make this very long story short....they are not willing to eat the costs and switch it. We would have to pay the cancellation and re-book, or pay to transfer dates. Greg REFUSES to do this...The agent knows she is wrong, but the paperwork says April, and no one caught the wrong dates until now, so she is standing on the "sorry this happened to YOU" and "wish someone would have noticed the wrong dates before"....needless to say how frustrated I am in her when there were many conversations about how we could not be on vacation on a Tuesday (the April dates would put us on one) and how we wanted the week before Memorial Day, which is in MAY!

So...my bad for not noticing the dates, I still feel her and the company should be at partial fault for the mistake and pay the $600 fees. BUT, we all know this isn't a perfect world, so

Do any of you know of someone that would want to take over this vacation and how to go about this? Or have another idea of what to do?

I would freak out on the travel agent... If they screwed up, and you have proof of it, then I would dispute it with your credit card, and report them to the better business bureau.

It sounds more logical to dispute the matter. Which travel agency did you go through?

Trip insurance always helps. We always buy it "just in case" something happens or gets screwed up.

 

Unfortunately I do not think there is anyway to prove it. The notebook paper she was scribbling on the first day we went in is the only thing showing May. The rest is "hear say", if you will, since it was all talking at her desk. It looks bad on us because the paperwork shows 4/15/13 and we didn't catch it, but how easy would it be to overlook it when it was supposed to be 5/15/13? On top of that, my point to her was that SHE KNEW when we wanted it because of the Tuesday issue and week before Memorial Day. The only papers I signed were when I put down the deposit, and paid it off. I never signed any "final papers" or itinerary papers, but did sign payment papers. I figure this is where they are going to get me with "you should have noticed the dates".
Uhgggg I'm still so frustrated!

 

It is Adelman vacations, formerly Great Southern Travel. They booked it through Apple. Insurance would have cut out the cost some and we probably should have, because it was only $140.00 whereas to switch will be 400-600, but our point is we are still wanting to go...just ON the dates WE CHOSE and shouldn't have to eat the cost to fix it!

 

Good luck finding someone to pay the cost of the trip plus whatever other fees it will cost to transfer names. Talk to mangement at travel place

 

Have you tried to contact Apple directly??

 

The $600 seems steep for the hotel , the usual fee is 25

Flights ,, that another story.

Try Calling Temptations with your res # and change it on there end, April is sold out, so they ''may'' go for it.

You may have to suck it up and learn from mistakes. Book it yourself on line and forget the travel agents.
