I will be in Cancun 5/16 to 5/20. I will be in a wedding in Cancun on Friday 5/18 which is suposed to be outdoors! How is the weather looking??? Weather.com says rainy and thunderstorms..
Generally since Cancun is right on the coast there is a higher chance of thundershowers during the day. The good news is that these are very often patchy and only last a few minutes. Unless it says RAIN and a significant amount don't get too worried. Another site that gives more details (like the amount of precipitation is theweathernetwork.com, or Canada's version of the weather channel.) I like it because it does list the amount where as weather.com doesn't seem to show an amount that I can see quickly at a glance. In short, have fun and don't worry about the weather, more often than not it will work itself out.
It hasnt rained significantly for about 3 months (i.e longer than 5 or 10 minutes in any one day) as far as I recall, so we are probably due some at some point. Of those last 3 months the weather websites have shown rain on more than half of the days. If it were true then Cancun would be up there with the wettest places in the World, it isn't.
Today has been the first bad weather day for months. It's been cloudy most of the day with some sun at lunchtime. Rained a couple of times, heavy last night and 2 or 3 10 minute showers during the day. This kind of weather doesn't usually last long, I'd expect it to be back to normal within a few days - hopefully in time for the wedding.
