I'm planning a trip to Cancun with a few friends. I have been there many times but with my parents and only to Palace Resorts. Now that I'm in my 20's, I'm ready to plan a trip on my own. I love Palace, but I it's too expensive for my friends. I'm seeking the help of this site because I've hit a wall. I research all day looking for a resort to go to, but I cant seem to land on one. I'm looking for an All-Inclusive Resort with nothing confusing
(like one restaurant is included, but one isn't, some types of drinks are included, some arent..etc) We're all in our 20's and we definitely would like to be near downtown or at least a cheap cab ride away. It would be nice if the resort had its own little "disco" as well, but not a requirement. Basically, I'm looking for the cheapest of the best, haha. I need something we can all afford without giving up quality.

I just want this to be an amazing time and I'm nervous because all I know is Palace Resorts.

Also, does anyone have any hints on airfare? Thats the real killer. We're from NJ, so Newark, Atlantic City or NY airports. I'm willing to do layovers!!

Thank you so much!! Please help with ANYTHING YOU CAN!! I'M A ROOKIE!

My friends usually stay at the Royal Solaris, GR Solaris, the RIU's, Dreams... pretty much can't go wrong with any of them. As for the "downtown" issue. Are you talking the Party Zone where Dady O's, Coco Bong and The City are? Or Downtown where the locals live? Tourists are easily confused as to thinking "Downtown" is the club area of the hotel zone. All of where torists need and want to go are covered by the bus system. In the hotel zone running 24/7 and costs just 8.5 pesos per ride.

As for flights, just look up packages from each airlport closest to you to find the best price

I am going in March and went to hotwire.com and got a great deal at the Bellevue and a car rental package for 2 all inclusive for 8 days for 850 dollars..it has 3 restaurants s and 5 bars...includes domestic drinks and food :) all at a great price! I could only find it at that price on hotwire, they have air fare included also so you might want to check it out.

I have also stayed in condos down there, it is also cheap to go that way you can get a nice condo for a week for 500 dollars that sleeps 4 people and you can go to walmart and cook your own food. :) try vrbo.com if your interested in a condo.

Thanks so much everyone! I'll definitely look into your suggestions. Also, I meant the clubs, not downtown. :)

For airfare I would suggest Jetblue who goes nonstop from JFK and Spirit who connects from LGA through both Detroit and Ft. Lauderdale. I am flying the other direction, Cancun to NYC March 4-9 and caught a big sale on Spirit for $165 r/t. The deal with Spirit is that they charge $23 each way for a checked bag and $20 each way if you have luggage in the overhead compartment. You can avoid the extra (sucky) fees if you can make do with a backpack that fits UNDER the seat.

You would have about $20 more in taxes as I am exempt from the Mexico Tourist Tax. Just an FYI.

    Good luck.

    Kada,

On Spirit, on their home page, to the right of the place to enter cities, dates, etc, you can spot their specials This week they had a $50 Off sale and a $35 Off sale (for different date options). You often have to enter a Promo Code in that area, like 50OFF for example. You almost have to check every day to get the best prices. Read all the small print regarding baggage fees, etc.

    Good luck
