My wife and I are taking our first trip to Cancun and have no clue what to expect. We (mostly the hubby) are the type who want to ensure we don't miss a thing when traveling. Other than relaxing at the beach, spa and booze cruise, what are the other MUST DOs in Cancun? We have a car and would like to check out the ruins. Which is closest to Temtpation? Any other places we need to check out? Any cool secluded beaches or favorite spots to see? How do we get to Isla Mujeres for a quick trip beyond the daylong tours? I know I'm wrong for worrying about creating an itinerary, but I just want to ensure we maximize our time there... It's the nature of the beast. (Hmmm, I just had a thought. Maybe the point of vacation is to NOT have anything to do?!?) Cheers, Tomme and Dara :aktion060:
There are many things to see..if you have a car Chitzen Itza is about 2 hour drive as are the ruins in Tulum, you could check out some Cenotes, or Xel Ha, or Xcaret, there are Jungle tours, Zip Lines, beaches, you could drive to Playa Del Carmen, cross to Cozumel for snorkeling..you could spend all week on tours if you wanted to...To get to Isla..its a quick Ferry ride...last time we went it was about 7$...some of the public beaches are quite nice...Playa Delphines for example...I consider Coco Bongos a must do if you like the nightlife... hope your staying for a month LOL
Yeah, but that's the thing. We're only there for 3 days (Fri-Mon). That's why I need to just find the best things to do!
If you only have 3 days then I would recommend just chilling out at the hotel and save the day trips for another time. If not, maybe go somewhere on the Sunday when the hotel is quieter. Tulum is an easy 2 hr drive, Chichen Itza is a more complicated drive and a little longer. Ferry to the island is $15. You're paying for all inclusive so make sure you use it instead of being here there and everywhere. It's a vacation! That said I would normally recommend people leave the hotel and see what Mexico has to offer if they are staying for longer, but 3 days is a very short trip and if you're out all the time you wont really get a handle on the social fun that is to be had at TTR.
W&K and Steve, thank you guys for your suggestions. I think we're gonna try a little of both, but probably stick with resting rather than my usual turbo-touristing!
My favorite was the Tulum extreme tour which was cenote diving/snorkeling, rapelling, and ziplining through the jungle and a private tour of Tulum and about 30 minutes at the most beautiful beach in the world. However I agree with steve, if you have only three days spend them having the time of your life at the sexy pool meeting some of then nicest people in the world.
