Ok, I have a friend coming to visit and we're going to meet up in Playa del Carmen. She only has 3 hours to hang out in Playa, and I was hoping ya'll would know of some great places for dinner and drinks! Here are my requirements: -Somewhere with outdoor/street seating for people-watching -No loud music so we can talk -Nothing too, too expensive (but nothing cheap either haha) where I can spend between 200 and 500 pesos per person -On or near Quinta Avenida -Very "Playa-esque" for lack of a better term... with a cool ambiance Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!
No brainer. "BABE'S NOODLES AND BAR" on 10th St, the first local from the corner of 5th Ave. 3 or 4 outdoor tables and the rest you can pretty much see the street from. I would call the menu Asian with a Thai influence. Some of the best Mojito's around. You can also sit at the bar but half the seats would have their back to the street. I like the Pad Thai the best. The rolls rock too. You can get the entrees in two sizes. Reasonable prices. I have driven from Cancun just for Babe's. Well, sort of. Playa del Carmen Restaurant - Babe's Noodles and Bar - Dining out in Playa del Carmen, Mexcio They have another location on 5th Ave, way north, but I would pass on that one. This one is better IMHO.
Babes - Mojitos I cannot get this any bigger. From Webshots.com Bigger here: (I think) TJ & Bundy at Babe's pictures from travel photos on webshots
* La Parilla de Manolo: Argentinian grill on La Quinta and Calle 32. Fabulous Mixed Grill for 2 - if you are very hungry. Fun folk guitar. Great for ladies as a comfortable place to hang out. * Il Barreto: Italian restaurant on the corner of 26th and 5th Avenue. Great pastas and pizza. Wonderful location. Casual environment. * Get your coffee at Starbucks on 5th and 28th but pastries at the Italian Pastry Shop on 26th between 5th Ave and 10th. A must for breakfast or afternoon treat.
